My son's spots can be quite bad - not acne, but zitty. He had some stuff from the Doc that worked for a while, then some other stuff that stung too much to use. Any recommendations?

Yes wash everyday evening with Murad anti blemish, its a very concentrated formula so lasts for ages.

If after a couple of weeks he needs an extra boost then just clearsil pads which have salicylic acid in them.

You can then move on to Paula's Choice skin perfecting AHA salycilic acid which really helps keeps oily skin in check.

La Roche Effeclar Duo is a great moisturiser to use for blemished skin.

So to recap a routine

wash with Murad.

then Use clearasil pads 5 in 1 (which have AHA salycilic acid in them)

Follow by Effeclar duo. (till spots go then use either effeclar or clearasil pads or Paulas Choice skin perfecting AHA not more than one at once once spots have cleared up)

I was just about to post about the same thing. My son has spotty very sensitive skin - his skin reacts to over- the - counter benzoyl peroxide type products and also prescription lotions. Not sure what to try next.

I’ve just purchased a sulphur soap today for this purpose, they have them on amazon too.

Thank you - will try those. Will have need sun protection from the salycic acid?

My son has been using Dr Organic skin clear range from holland and Barrett and it's made a marked improvement. He uses the face wash, followed by the toner (I also use this and it's brilliant Grin) then the moisturiser all over and treatment gel directly on the large spots. It's really taken down the swelling and redness. It contains tea tree and salicylic acid. He used to suffer from excema on his face and this has not irritated him at all.

I've always had awful skin (ended up on antibiotics in my late 20s) but my skin has been a million times better since I started using Boots own brand witch Hazel and charcoal facewash
