What do you wear/where do you shop?

I think I need an overhaul!

Glad you found the site chanel Smile

I agree yakari for me everyday outfits have to be standard and easy to wear without thinking too much or it’s just too hard time wise!

Also I think it’s important that everyday clothing is specific to ones lifestyle and climate and commitments? ( eg a basic white shirt or something in silk or heels or tan loafers would work well for someone in a professional or arty job or who moved in those circles or who genuinely went out socially a lot - but not so much for others?)

It just doesn’t get worn if it’s not practical. I’ve got lots of “good” clothing I just don’t wear as it doesn’t suit my day to day life.

I went out and bought some of the dreaded activewear (shhh Blush) in black and a genuinely figure flattering cut a month ago. Also upgraded my trainers

Interestingly enough this hugely improved my confidence (and had low CPW) as I wear them a lots as I workout most days and then wander about my errands, they’re comfortable and I look good in them.

So my activewear is another woman’s smart dark blue jeans.

I've never looked glam or 'finished'. I can scrub up well for a party or do. Some women manage it.

LoniceraJaponica · 02/04/2018 14:17

My problem is that I want to wear chic shirts at work, but I go and spoil the look by wearing a thick cardigan over them because the office is always too cold. They waste £££££ on aircon when it just isn't necessary.

I need smart clothes that are warm.

HuskyMcClusky · 02/04/2018 14:30

A lot of the women on those ‘chic’ blogs wear scarves all the time, I’ve noticed.

I absolutely loathe the feel of scarves and do not wear them (and don’t really like the look of those designery ones, anyway). That’s my excuse for remaining non-chic. Grin

LockedOutOfMN · 02/04/2018 17:22

LoniceraJaponica If you can't get the aircon turned down, you could try wearing a thermal vest under your shirt (a few years ago, Primark had lovely and very effective ones - I used them for skiing) or a more chic cardigan / sweater / jacket. Cardigan or sweater is probably more comfortable for sitting at your desk; Zara tends to have nice, inexpensive, dare I say it, chic ones. Colours like grey (very pale or charcoal), cream or camel may look good.

thefirstmrsdewinter · 02/04/2018 18:37

@LoniceraJaponica I have a similar situation (always cold, any exposed skin is freezing) and find wrist warmers and infinity scarves are good, and they pretty much tuck under other clothes to be less obvious. I can be wearing lots of warm layers, but a 3/4 length sleeve or open neck can undo it all.

LoniceraJaponica · 02/04/2018 23:22

Lockedout even a thermal vest under a shirt isn't warm enough. I need a cardigan as well. I hate 3/4 length sleeves as well. I need my wrists covered to stay warm

yakari · 03/04/2018 00:49

For looking smart and warm instead of skinny big cardigans, something like these https://www.hush-uk.com/m/womenswear/daywear/jackets/caracroppknitjackettfrenchbluee_white.htm
Would that work for you?

yakari · 03/04/2018 00:50

'Skinny' I meant baggy Confused

LoniceraJaponica · 03/04/2018 06:35

I'm not keen on that jacket. The sleeves look too short.
