Shampoo

I read an article recently (will try and find the link) that suggests high-end/salon shampoo etc is much better for your hair than the products available in supermarkets, Boots etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations for what they use to get lovely hair?

Needs to be SLS free (the itch!!) which I've struggled with.

Thanks.

I use Davines Oi shampoo, but that’s not SLS-free. Since I’ve used this or their Dede shampoo, I need to wash (and therefore dry) my hair less often, and it looks much nicer.

I started using it when I had hair loss after my first baby, and my hair was frizzy and awful. I’m just getting through hair loss from Baby Two, and haven’t experienced the terrible condition this time.

That sounds great! But SLS really irritates my skin and leaves it so itchy, so it's not an option Sad

Glad you've found something that works for you Smile

They have a huge range - I’m not sure whether some are SLS free? I might be worth looking. Their conditioners are also excellent.

Something very mild, I like pure nuff stuff, definitely no SLS, but not a salon (but also not mass-produced stuff).

I don't know about salon shampoos but Happy Naturals is the best SLS free shampoo I've tried. Sainsbury's sells it www.happynaturalsbeauty.com/index.php

Kerastase, Moroccan Oil and Liz Earle all very good SLS free shampoos. They do really make a difference - I have mane like curls and a good shampoo and conditioner makes my hair more manageable.

I’ve done quite well with this list here, which are all SLS free. There are some higher end ones, like the John Master one.

I also need SLS free shampoos and have been using the Kind Natured ones from Boots.

I've never found a good SLS free salon shampoo.

I use Redken Blonde Idol - it's sulphate free and I love it. It lathers up like a normal shampoo (I've found that some SLS-free shampoos don't lather up at all).
My DH will not use anything else, and he doesn't have an issue with SLS - he has noticed that his hair just looks and feels much nicer.

I've also used the Kerastase Discipline Sulfate free shampoo, which also was nice, but my hair got greasy very quickly - but that might just mean it was the wrong shampoo for my hair type.

Palmers range is v good www.superdrug.com/Palmer's/Palmer's-Coconut-Oil-Repairing-Shampoo-400ml/p/335254

Definately true, or at least in my experience

I never used to be fussed and bought whatever was in offer for colour protection but found my colour still faded out fast and I never felt like my hair was cared for. I then switched to higher end such as red ken, keratase and the wella one used in salons and have noticed a huge difference since

Hair care is something I don’t scrimp on!

SheStoodInTheStorm · 03/04/2018 12:48

Thanks all!

I did buy a keratase one, but when it turned up it had SLS in despite me checking the ingredients online Hmm

I've bought a happy hair one as I was in sainsburys but will continue to look for a salon one too.

Anyone ever used ogx hair products? They're doing a deal (3 for 2) in Asda. Usually 12.99 each and SLS free so am giving it a bash.

If you've tried it, any good?

SheStoodInTheStorm · 07/04/2018 11:04

I've used OGX before, it was ok. I know others who use it and love it.

Trilogy haircare are good. I think you have to accept that your hair will behave differently when you're not using products full of silicone. Far better in the long run for your hair condition but you're not going to get that really smooth swishy hair on a day to day basis.

Nearlyadoctor · 07/04/2018 12:17

3 More Inches excellent shampoo's.

gubble · 07/04/2018 12:25
