Horrible facial hair

Around 2 months ago I decided plucking my chin hairs was causing too many in grown, big cystic spots on my chin which looked a mess. So began to shave daily.

Fast forward to today. I woke up, looked at my chin and was so down at the thick dark stubble, only a day old but really visible. So began plucking. Half way through one side I realised I had even more than I had thought - because I've been shaving as soon as I wake, hadn't been paying so much attention. I kid you not, it took me nearly an hour to patiently grab and pull.. I don't know how many. Twice as many on one side than the other, weirdly, and none in the middle. Maybe 100-200 total.

I'm only mid-30s, one child a few years old but know I had noticeable chin hair by at least mid 20s (It took me a few years to figure it out, then looking back realised people had been trying to drop kindly hints since about age 24-25 Blush)

Now it's plucked, of course I will probably get the big spots again. But what the hell. Does anyone else have it quite this bad, and at this age? Women in my family really don't talk to each other much at all never mind about this kind of thing, so I have no idea whether it's a genetic thing. DM who is 60+ and I am in regular contact with doesn't seem to have any.

Am considering buying a Lumea, but they seem so expensive I haven't done it yet. Worried it might not work and be wasted money and I'm ot that well off. Have ordered one of those £1 stick things on Amazon, it's on its way from China or wherever.

Ifonlyus Me and my best friend (both of Mediterranean decedent) have a pact that if one of us falls into a coma, the other will deal with monobrow, moustace, chin and sideburnsGrin!!

I have PCOS and dark hair on my chin and neck. I recently bought a Lumea after hearing about it on here and even after the first use the hair was noticeably less. I've now used it 3 times and no longer have to pluck every day as previously. Before I would never have left the house without a good mirror inspection every morning but now it's not necessary.

spacecadet48 · 02/04/2018 22:11

I have my full face threaded every 6 weeks ( although I started in my 40s). My DD who is now 14 has very dark and was anxious about it when she was 12. She gets threaded too, upper lip and eyebrows. In your case I would go to the GP to make sure there isn't a hormonal issue causing it.

ReigningChaos · 02/04/2018 22:16

I also have this problem. I have the usual peach fuzz but my chin has always been quite coarse. I had my whole face and neck waxed once and the therapist asked if I had ever shaved. At that point I hadn't. I also had threading twice - brilliant results and my mum couldn't get over how clean my skin looked. Second time I had a bad spot outbreak so I've never gone back for another session. I also find that it hurts like hell.

I'm very blonde and occassonally I'll carch my reflection in a window or phone and all I can see is the blonde hair glistening!

I just have a bit of a shave now, just around the chin. I love winter, first sign of cold weather and my scarf goes on ...not because I'm cold but because it helps hide my chin!

Cheesesteak · 02/04/2018 22:20

I had exactly the same problem! Honestly I’d pluck in the morning and by the evening I’d have major man stubble.

About 5 months ago I bought a Lumea. I got a bargain £159 on eBay. Honestly the best thing I’ve ever done!! I’ve still got a few stubborn hairs coming through but they’re slowly getting lighter. Most have disappeared completely. I use it once a week.

Good luck OP!

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 03/04/2018 02:58

shakeyourcaboose · 03/04/2018 08:51

Place marking for the stick thing link!

sadsparticus · 03/04/2018 08:58

Amazing and very cheap stick thing: here

Mayhemmumma · 03/04/2018 09:03

Lumea defintely if professional hair removal isn't an option.

Those episticks are really good but it sounds like you need a more permanent solution as this will hurt it your skin is broken.

grandplans · 03/04/2018 09:08

Does Lumea work on blonde/white hair? I have loads but I can't laser because its all blonde :(

chloechloe · 03/04/2018 14:02

Unfortunately not hunter, it only works on dark hair.

JMAngel1 · 03/04/2018 15:23

How bad is blonde peach fuzz do you think? I have loads of it and very rarely gave it a thought - started having facials a year or so ago, and the therapist kept going on about how furry my face was then my DH on prompting, said that it was really obvious. So I've started sort of shaving it once a week with this blade from Amazon - it's marketed as an eyebrow tidy I think but seems to take off my blonde hair. My worry is that this shaving could encourage darker more coarse hair? Do you think it could? Would electrolysis work on blonde hair?

smoothieooo · 03/04/2018 16:11

I use the same Amazon blade thing (like a razor in a plastic handle) and shave in the direction of hair growth. I have lots of peach fuzz and a full face threading and although it look amazing, resulted in a face full of spots a week or so later.

I consider myself lucky that I only have the one dreaded coarse, black hair which seems to not be there one day but is an inch long the next! It's just under my chin so I have to hunt for it.

Badumdumdum · 03/04/2018 16:17

I've just looked up the lumea. I have coarse dark chin hairs i am currently undergoing electrolysis for and my therapist says I am a good candidate for laser hair removal. However I cannot go 4 weeks without pulling.
How often can you use the lumea? Do hairs need to be a certain length before using it?

Badumdumdum · 03/04/2018 22:28

Have i killed the thread?

faceremovinghaircream · 03/04/2018 22:45
