Facial exercise and massage for wrinkles. Does it work?

Hi,

So I try really hard to look after my skin and slow down the ageing process, as much as I can. I eat (reasonably) well, have cut down alcohol intake (a lot), drink a lot of water, use sunscreen, serums etc.

I'm 33 and generally, my skin is in good condition (I think Confused ) but my 'problem' area is my nose to mouth lines.

I have full cheeks and I think that this is why these lines are becoming more prominent. Because as you age, your collagen production slows and your elasticity reduces, this causes sagging and if you have full cheeks, well.....what goes up, must come down Confused.....the bigger they are, the harder they fall Hmm

Anyway, I'm desperate to reduce them and I've found some YouTube videos explaining how massaging those muscles, the ones which support your cheeks, can really help. Really??..

I understand that by exercising, building up and strengthening the facial muscles could help tighten that area. That makes sense to me, but massage alone. Not so sure.

Does anyone do this? Does it really work?

Thanks! Smile (jowlymcjowlface) Sad

I have a massage roller and it has made a noticeable difference on my nose to mouth lines. I was quite surprised (and delghted obviously). I had tried some of the youtube vids before that but never managed to keep it going as a routine.

Yes, I’ve been doing Carolyn’s Facial Fitnrss for a while, and look young for my age.
Interestingly the folds between nose and corner of the mouth( which I think is the bit you are talking about) respond particularly well. The most unresponsive bit is the Botox bit between the eyebrows.
I’m a lot older than you btw, but started before I started sagging!

Ooo this is good to know!

I've just bought a massage roller from The Body Shop. Thanks talisin. I shall report back.

Ohyes, with facial exercise, I always find I get bored really quickly and I never stick to it and also worry that I'm doing it wrong, so wasting my time. With massage, I just enjoy it and don't even think about it. Do you mind describing which exercises you do?
