What am I supposed to do with my eyebrows?

For years I have been haphazardly plucking as and when I remember to. For the most part they are fairly neat. A few very light (unnoticeable) hairs between them. A few stray hairs underneath them. And a bit wild where they start. Oh a one random grey hair.

Now I haven't plucked them for a few months and thought that this might be a good chance to move with the times (I've noticed that the eyebrow thing has really evolved in the past few years).

Is threading the dine thing now or do people still wax? Where do you even go to have them done? Presumably those booths in shopping centres are a no go?

I'm also considering ditching my moustache (getting a bit old to pull it off I think) but don't even know where to start. I am almost garunteed to get ingrown hairs if I remove hair so what do I do about that?

A few people I know get threading done at beauty salons for their eyebrows.

How are you supposed to pick a salon? I've never been (hair cut at hair dressers).

There’s a brow threading place in our local Debenhams that do a great job but i find it a lot more painful than waxing, maybe just what I’m used to! I’d probably try a beauty therapist rather than a brow bar generally though... maybe just ask for a tiny tidy up and then see how much is being taken off, or try those stencils at home first? I don’t wear enough makeup to carry off those HD brows but I do add a little mid brown shadow for a bit of definition (and to fill in the patchy bits!)

Ask for recommendations off your friends or look at reviews on beauty salons websites or on social media. Your bound to get some people saying I go here but do avoid x

Are you on instagram at all? You can probably find a local beautician that is highly skilled at shaping eyebrows through Instagram or even Facebook. Would recommend this over trying a random salon.

You could go to booth or random salon but they might just give you a ‘standard’ reshape (almost like a stock shape they give to everyone) and ruin your brows. I have had bad eyebrow threading experiences before where the lady ignored my wishes and has made my brows stick thin and ruined the shape. So whilst I’d go literally anywhere for upper lip threading, I’d research a salon for brow threading. Threading isn’t painful, your first time might sting a bit but it’s like a 1/10 in pain

I have mine micro bladed and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done

Belliniteeny · 27/03/2018 20:40

Threading etc will only work on what is already there. If it is sparse hair wise your best option is to microblade. I'm going to get mine done after I've had my baby as you can't do it while pregnant. Check out phi brows for more info.

@Strongbeats my friends are a lot like me and do all this stuff at home if at all.

I'm just worried that they will be completely screwed up and worse than if I had done them myself.

i go to the local beauty place and have them waxed. used to thread but that it incredibly painful and results a bit variable.

Daffodils78 · 28/03/2018 05:25

Wax occasionally, otherwise pluck as they stay mostly in shape. Get a "brow mascara" which is like clear liquid with a mascara type brush which you use to keep them in place. A little highlighter underneath, and a little eyebrow pencil to improve the colour if you want, and you are good to go Grin
