Hair Problems?

So I'm not happy at all with my hair or general look. My hair is thin, frizzy and altogether disgusting. Recently it's started to break off. I don't use heat ever and only brush when conditioning. I tie up loosely overnight if it is still wet to prevent it sticking up and being incredibly frizzy. I wash with shampoo every day which I know is bad, however if I do not it gets greasy. Any advice on how to prevent/what could be causing this? This is really getting to me at this point.

Not to mention it's split ends galore.

You need to get blood work done. It could be low iron or thyroid problems causing it.

How old are you and has your hair always been thin and frizzy? Could it be hormonal?
I would try: biotin, lots of ‘super foods’ and good fats, co-washing, coconut oil used as a deep conditioner, and possibly going sulphate and silicone-free in your products.
It takes a couple of months at least for hair to show any improvement though. Possibly longer.

Yes deffo check blood too. Many women are anaemia or close to it which can stuff up your hair big time.

Washing everyday may not be helping have you tried co-washing? I do it with a super light conditioner massaging it into the scalp you can buy cowash no poo shampoos but I find them expensive when a light conditioner does the job. I still shampoo occasionally just not everyday.
Makes a big difference with breakage and breaks the cycle of over washing hair because it's greasey then hair gets more greasey cos it's being over washed.

Get a hair cut first then Try black seed oil with olive oil. Heat both up together and massage onto scalp and lengths of hair. Black seed oil must be pure and cold pressed.

My hair is also crap. I’m 9 months into taking biotin and no improvement at all so far.

My diet is pretty good. I do have an under active thyroid which looks like it will override anything I do to improve it. Sympathy to you and your hair.

I was diagnosed with anaemia early last year and I've run my course of medication which lasted about a year or so. I'm 17 (I know this is a forum for mums, however sites such as The Student Room e.c.t usually give absolutely no helpful advice whatsoever). I'll book a blood test, thank you!

Will look into the cowashing. Will give biotin a go too! Thank you for the replies everyone.

I think perhaps the washing everyday isn't helping as pp has said, if you could get out of that routine, that should help with the greasiness. My dd was recently slightly paranoid that her hair was becoming greasy everyday & felt the need to wash it as such but I tried to explain to her that it was her washing it everyday that was making it greasy & ironically drying it out! She now washes it every other day & is more relaxed about it!

For the split ends, only a trim is going to get rid of them. Even the smallest of trims will make a difference. I wouldn't tie your hair up at night either, your hair could be rubbing, being pulled as you move in your sleep. My hair has been through a lot of colour abuse, to get it looking it's best I use the Aussie Miracle treatment conditioner range - after every shampoo (which is every other day or two days if I can get away with it).
