Foundation for pale oily skin

I am looking for a foundation that will stay put all day on my oily skin. I don't mind how much coverage it has as my skin isn't too bad, but any foundation I use at the minute gets really shiny after about 3 hours, even if I use a primer underneath. I am also VERY pale so it would have to be one with a good shade range. Does anyone have any recommendations? I don't mind how much it costs if it's good.

Ahh we're in the same pale and oily boat(wonderful imagery I know Grin)
I use the lightest shade in the elf foundation range, it's inexpensive and gets the job done! I have to pop a little pressed powder over any foundation to matify and keep it in place! Otherwise every foundation, no matter the price range or what effects it boasts will be shiny and slip off during the course of the day, in my experience that is.
Hope this helps.

Catrice HD is cheap as chips and I get it in Penneys. Only got it to test as I was spending lots on foundation. This stuff is brilliant. €7.90 a bottle

Primark in UK

I really like Estee Lauder Double Wear.
I have a quite oily t-zone, and this foundation just looks great all day long, with little to no touch-ups during the day.

I always used to hear that this foundation is very full coverage and very drying and mask-like, but it really isn't (maybe if you use a thicker layer).
I can see my freckles through the foundation, and I think it looks really good.

You should be able to get a sample before buying. There are loads of shades, and I usually need the palest shade, but there are several paler shades available than the one I got.

I too am pale and oily! I thoroughly recommend Future Skin by Chantecaille. It is great for layering and stays put, and it is pale enough (I use the 'Porcelain' shade) for my skin too. £60 a tub but I wouldn't use anything else.

I do have to use a mattifier on top though as it makes your skin look dewy.

BareMinerals BarePro liquid foundation - loads of shades for pale skin and the only one that doesn't slide off my oily t zone.

How pale are you? It would help if you said what you use now and in what shade. I'm probably a neutral 8 in MAC terms.

ELDW is extremely good but it depends on how pale you genuinely are as even the palest shades 1C0 and 1N0 are too dark for me but if you're less pale, I'd strongly recommend.

MAC Studio Fix is good and not that dissimilar to ELDW - the lowest they go is NW10/NC10.

Another popular one for paler skins is Kat Von D Lock It Foundation and that isn't supposed to budge. I've not tried it in a suitable colour so can't comment much.

It also depends what coverage level you are after. Lancome Teint Idole in 005 007 008 are pale shades but too light coverage wise for me.

Go mineral compressed powder, bareminerals, green people (organic) and honeypie minerals (only on line) all have a good range for pales. Matt finishing powder from bare minerals helps everything stay out as well but I like all three brands.

Lancome teint idole 24hr in 008 is the best one I've found for my combination (oily t zone) cool pale white skin. They have a good range of shades and a choice of very pale ones. They also give very generous samples of whatever shades you'd like to try so you can try it out for a couple of weeks. I tried 005 010 and the 008. I use a real techniques expert face brush followed by a beauty blender to fully blend it in. Have a look at Lisa Eldridge's videos where she shows how to apply a base. I use her methods (centre of face and blend out, less is more etc) and they've made a big difference.

You may need a tiny bit of translucent powder to dust over your oil prone bits. Look for the ones which are white in colour rather than a pale peachy shade. I use Make Up Forever loose hd powder. I then blot lightly over it with a very slightly damp beauty blender so it doesn't look powdery.

Stays put all day which is a first for me.

Hourglass and Chantecaille both have extremely pale shades.
Remember not to just go automatically for the palest one on the list. Sometimes that one can be warm toned which will look oddly darker if you are cool toned.

Can you explain more about this? I find it hard to get foundation that suits. I am pale and cool toned and maybe this is part of the problem for me?

no help with the oily stuff i'm afraid, but if you already use a foundation that's the right shade, you can go to temptalia.com and see what brands have a good match to choose from.
