Rough hairdresser - feel a bit precious

I've been going to the same salon for 5 years. I was getting fed up because on several occasions ive had a cut from a stylist and then a blow dry from a trainee which is fine. But they charge massively different amounts for blow drys depending on the seniority of the hairdresser but still try and charge the full amount

My normal hairdresser has left so i saw someone new yesterday. She was so rough washing and blow drying my hair i was wincing. Even today my scalp hurts

Think I'm going to break up with the salon not just the hairdresser

I understand. I had my hair done yesterday but my stylist doesn't rinse out and the girls that do it hurt. I may well be sensitive but it takes the joy out of the appointment.

I changed hairdressers a while ago because the hair wash lady, who was lovely, had very long fingernails which always used to scratch me leaving a nasty oozing sore for days afterwards. I used to get very anxious whenever she was there and in the end had to stop going.

Thank you for the replies. She had really long nails too maybe that's what it is.

I spent over £60 on having my roots dyed and a blow dry and found it uncomfortable. I'm going to try somewhere else next time.

Just putting this out there as a former hairdresser (and former junior) - do feel free to say something if you're being manhandled. I always tell them I have a bit of a baby head and don't like hot water, cold only please. I also hate having my hair washed so I ask for the quickest possible hair washing - no massage, no deep conditioning treatment with my head dangling over the sink etc. If they hurt you say 'Ow, that hurts! Could you [blank] a bit more gently please' or similar.

For every one of us there will be someone who wants their head scrubbed with sandpaper in boiling water and will complain if they go home with any skin left.

I always cringe when I see someone with their head being whipped back and forth in the chair. I don't know why the hairdresser doesn't know this isn't ideal. Maybe they think it seems decisive and professional - ? Being touched in an uncertain, tentative way by a hairdresser can also be disconcerting.

If you're asking and nothing changes then by all means find someone else. Some people just don't have a nice touch and can't or won't change it.
