Tracksuits for thin girls?

Hello
DD is 10 years and has always been very thin and tall for her age. So, to get the necessary length for trousers, I will buy trousers for 10 year olds and pull the elastic inside the waist all the way. Or give up and buy jeggings and leggings.

Trouble is that she needs thick, warm tracksuit bottoms for a holiday activity camp (leggings will be too cold). We have tried Gap, Primark, Next and the waist on them is really huge (you can fit another child in, not just a bit big). Going down a size from age 10 is not an option as she needs the length. I also haven’t seen any tracksuit bottoms with adjustable waist, the cords (Gap, Zara) on the waist are for show only and not functional.

If anyone has found any tracksuits (or other clothing) for thin and tall children, I would be grateful for ideas.

Thank you 🙏

Have you tried small adult sizes? Primark now does size 4 (American size 0) Hmm. Not good for normal adults but it is good for tall lanky teenagers/preteens.

I have the same problem with my 10 year old dd, sometimes can get ones to fit her from zara but we normally get them from Nike.

I will bear in mind the adult extra small option, although at height 144 cm, I think she may still be a bit short for those 🤔

Unfortunately Zara trackies all have ‘fake’ cords this season.

Will try Nike. Hope they are not too expensive, I need 3 pairs which won’t be worn again due to muddy strains and the weather getting better (hopefully) aoon.

H&M or Marks and Spencer? Next?

This might sound really strange and I’m not certain if this would work with the Zara jogging bottoms but I have had at least a couple of pairs of jogging bottoms from other brands with fake cords where I have replaced the fake cord with a real cord.

What you do is buy a pair of jogging bottoms with fake cords and buy a long piece of cord from a craft shop. Then tie one end of the long piece of cord to a paperclip and put it in one of the holes where the fake cords emerge from. Feel where the paperclip is under the material and slowly move it around to where the other fake cord emerges.

It seems really weird that there is a space for a cord to go through in pairs of jogging bottoms with fake cords, but quite a lot of them do seem to have this. If it works, then you can cut off the fake cords afterwards (and remove the paperclip from the new long cord of course!). If it doesn’t work then just return the jogging bottoms.

Just buy the boys' ones, they often have the adjustable cords, particularly in the uniform section.
