Bumps/spots on upper arms - how to get rid?

I've got bumps/spots on my upper arms (strangely mostly on one arm and hardly any on the other).

How do I get rid of them? I've tried exfoliating with a glove every time I shower but it's making no difference. They've also gotten worse since having DD 10 months ago.

Summer is coming and I'd like to be able to get my arms out!

^^ Korean washcloths, cheap as chips on eBay and very effective.

MushroomTree · 22/03/2018 07:10

Thanks everyone. From googling it looks like KP.

It's an interesting point about the gluten. Before having DD I was low carb and the spots weren't anywhere near as bad. But pregnancy and now just being lazy with my diet means carbs are definitely a feature. All the more reason to get back on the diet I think!

I found using a dry body brush before a shower helped and lots of body moisturiser.

YorkshireLurker · 22/03/2018 07:43

I had this for 15 years, good regular moisturiser helps. I started upping the amount of water I drink and now have a minimum of 2 litres every day and it's all but disappeared :)

I'm deathly pale too so it was really noticeable - good luck!

I second the 10% Urea Eucerin.

I have this and Ameliorate is the only thing that works for me. It's brilliant. I look out for special offers on Feelunique or order it from M&S (it's not in my local store).

Ameliorate cream. Bloody miracle. Available on amazon.

Fekko · 22/03/2018 07:53

A relative is a dermatologist and he recommends a really good moisturiser twice a day.

Mine just disappeared. I'm 46 and I think its been gone for around 10 years. I miss it sometimes because on the softer part of my arm I could squeeze some of them. Grin

I had KP on upper arms and thighs. Had it since my teens. It completely disappeared over about 2 months (along with various other more serious issues) when I went completely wheat and gluten free about 7 years ago, and has never returned (tested negative for Ceoliac but very clearly do have a serious reaction to gluten).
Skin issues seem to be very common with undiagnosed food intolerance (I think dairy can cause a lot of skin issues too.

TheHuntingOfTheSarky · 22/03/2018 07:57

Another vote for Ameliorate. Bloody brilliant stuff. Only thing that works.

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 22/03/2018 08:01

I have it but eliminating gluten had no effect for me. Exfoliation (those Korean washcloths are brilliant), and a moisturizer with urea or acids does the trick. The Dermadoctor KP duty range is good, so is the Palmers Cocoa Butter anti-aging lotion, the Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix range and also the Eucerin with Urea.

lettuceWrap · 22/03/2018 08:03

Curly, ime, kp and large open pores (which tend to develop blackheads) are linked, but others may disagree (inflammation/intolerance at the root of both i think).

lettuceWrap · 22/03/2018 08:09

Kalin, I’ve heard that some people with skin issues who don’t improve at all on a (properly) gluten free diet have an allergy or immune response to Corn (maize/cornflour) proteins- like gluten, it can be difficult to avoid as it’s put in a lot of foods...
