Are they definately black heads and not sebaceous filaments? Only reason I ask is because I thought I had blackheads all over my nose since I was young and tried every harsh method of getting rid off them for years and years to then discover in my adulthood that they are infact sebaceous filaments not blackheads.
Only downside of that is they can’t actually be removed, even when cleared they will fill back up the following day. But you can use skincare products to minimise and keep them clearer.

Nip Fab pads are good .. but agree, I doubt they are blackheads.

After years I’ve resorted to roaccutane. And it’s great Smile

Thanks for the replies how do I find out if they aren't black heads ? Don't need roaccutane the rest of my skin is clear xx

I could have written this last night ! Blackheads on my nose really bothering me too. I had a good squeeze/cleanse last night so looking a bit better today although I do have some big obvious pores 🙄 so I’d be interested to see what suggestions you get !

Goldangel · 19/03/2018 13:46

I would suggest a professional deep cleanse facial, somewhere that steams & does extractions.

Are they lots of tiny pore like dark dots all over nose? Quick google will help you determine the difference. Generally sebaceous filaments all uniform in size and smooth and flat to touch. Although if I was to slack on skincare for few days mine would feel slightly less smooth and more bumpy.

mrssunshinexxx · 19/03/2018 14:41

Yes dark dots all over and when squeezed stuff come out and they disappear but reappear quickly

Sounds like sebaceous filaments not blackheads.
I don’t have advice on how to get rid of them and think from what Iv read it’s not actually possible unfortunately Sad
I know it’s difficult I still do it myself but try not to squeeze them, sometimes it damages the pores and they can stretch and look bigger!
What’s your skincare routine like?

mrssunshinexxx · 19/03/2018 15:28

Probably not great I use garnier rose water cleanser twice a day.,

You can have roaccutane for blackheads alone. You don’t need to have other issues too.

HuskyMcClusky · 19/03/2018 15:30

Don’t use the pore strips. I reckon they are what gave me tiny broken capillaries at the side of my nose. Sad

Summerfalls · 19/03/2018 15:46

Op, look into using a product containing sacylic acid. Regular masks, including clay masks I find help. I use a toner containing glycolic acid once or twice a week too, to chemically exfoliate, I used to use it more often but I now use differin gel prescribed by doctors for hormonal break outs I get each month so I have cut back on the glycolic because it’s too much chemical exfoliating for my skin personally. Make sure to moisturise too.

Husky, I used everything from pore strips to harsh scrubs (st Ives apricot one) multiple times a day as a teenager for years, my poor skin! I also have broken capillaries on sides of nose too.

Bodear roaccutine seems a bit harsh for sebacious filaments and can’t see any dermatologist advising such a strong medication for skin that is clear but has natural pores. sebacious filaments aren’t classed as a form acne like blackheads can be. They are two different things.

I actually set up an account to answer this. I consider myself an almost world leading blackhead expert:

  • wash with bar soap from Waitrose
  • glam glow white pot mask - miracle worker combines acids and clay (1x per week)
Rest of the time use Vichy Norma fern lotion (green bottle) Double cleanse with oil then soap. Soap isn’t fashionable but it certainly melts those waxy blackheads!!!

Thanks so much plenty to try! Xx

You need to be really tenacious with the old blackheads. I am on my third round of roaccutane ... in 25 years as have pcos. Use a cleansing brush or a Muslin and whatever you like to cleanse - utterly pointless having any special cleanser as it doesn’t stay on long enough. I find that salicylic acid - clean and clear grey tube, at least everyother night or as much as your skin can tolerate. then avenue Triacneal or the equivalent as much as you can tolerate or the ordinary retinol in squalene and all at night. During the day cleanse them some
Niacinmide or whatever it’s called and the sun screen - la Roche posay dry touch tinted screen factor 50.
Plus once a week a really good steam - get a steamer on amazon for less than 20’quid and use a blackhead remover and extract as many as you can gently!! Hope this helps! Mine are falling out now on roaccutane. It’s heavenly!
