Invisalign cost

I went for an invisalign consultation yesterday. There was an open day offer of £400, once that had been deducted the quote was £3800.

I know prices vary from person to person depending on amount of work etc but i wondered how this compares to what other people have paid.

It is a reputable place, diamond level invisalign provider, and that price includes everything including final retainers.

Wow Bluebell your teeth look lovely!

BluebellTheDonkey · 20/03/2018 22:36

Thank you I am so pleased I finally got round to getting them sorted (in my 40s). Its weird because people say they never thought my teeth were bad before, then I show them a pic and they're shocked! I was certainly very self conscious about them.

Sherlock2207 · 20/03/2018 22:44

Can I ask if anyone knows whether invisalign would help with a cross bite?

I have a crossbite (and wonky teeth down one side of my upper jaw because of it) as well as wonky teeth bottom front, but not sure if Invisalign would do anything about the crossbite (I assume it would help with the wonky side teeth - they kind of curve in towards the palate rather than curve outwards towards the cheek, if that makes sense) and if it didn't help the crossbite then the teeth would just go wonky again because of my bottom teeth pushing against them in the wrong position.

Mine are 3.5k and the dentist has thrown in free whitening.

Rosielily · 21/03/2018 07:52

I'm just on aligner 13 out of 14, changed fortnightly, which will be followed by about 7 further aligners to be worn for a week at a time for final refinements. My treatment is Invisalign Lite - £2,500 including whitening. Live in the north of England.

Rosielily · 21/03/2018 07:54

@BluebellTheDonkey fantastic result by the way, you must be delighted. Can't wait to see mine properly when I have had the attachments removed!

BelindasRedPlasticHandcuffs · 21/03/2018 08:12

I'm mid way through and it's £3520. 19 trays first time round and now 16 for refinements. The price includes whitening, and the fixed and removable retainers at the end too.

Tinkobell · 21/03/2018 08:27

We are a family who have all had orthodontic treatment including myself and DH who are Invisaligners. The price sounds pretty much what we paid. Things to check before signing

  • can they offer 0 percent interest monthly instalments - this does help.
  • does the price include any extra braces that you made require at the end for final perfecting.....it should do.
The service offered by Invisalign is very impressive. 3D scans go over to the Netherlands, in minutes they are received and a plan is devised reviewed by you ortho before being manufactured in Mexico. The results are really good. You look pretty normal throughout the process - no train tracks. Also you are doing your dental health the world of good by having your teeth nicely spaced for flossing etc. My DH avoided narrowly having to have an extraction due to his overcrowding. Good Luck!
squiz81 · 21/03/2018 09:13

They look great @BluebellTheDonkey ! Thanks for sharing your photos. I love a before and after. Your problems are similar to.mine, overcrowding at the bottom and crossover at the top. Its good to see yours has been fixed!

@Tinkobell thanks for the tips! They did a finance deal, but didnt suit me (repayments too high) so ive taken out a 0% credit card and will do it that way. And it does include retainers etc. Jealous of people who got whitening thrown in for free!

@sherlock2207 invisalign says it can cure crossbites. If you can find somewhere that does a free consultation its worth checking out. At mine they took photos of my teeth and then an orthodontist examined me. Then they told me if i was suitable for invisalign or not.

My dentist wanted £150 just for the consultation. I felt that was too much to pay when i wasnt sure if i wanted to proceed.

I'm on my 10th tray of 38. Really happy so far, on a recent night out in was photographed smiling (without them on - left them at home for a few hours) and my teeth look much better already. I'm very strict normally at 22 hours' wear a day. I'm used to the whole cleaning routine now and when I don't wear the aligners (when eating) I feel weird like my teeth are too thin! No discomfort but it was sore at the beginning. I may not need any attachments which is good news.
Definitely recommend!

rainbowfudgee · 21/03/2018 11:42

My main issue is crossover at the front and over bite. I'm confident it will work for me. I have a big box with all my future aligners in- sometimes I look at the last one and it's exciting seeing perfect straight teeth!

rainbowfudgee · 21/03/2018 11:46

For those wondering which problems can be fixed- once you've had your initial scans your orthodontist will show you an animation of your current teeth moving into the final position one aligners at a time. Some of my teeth are rotating, others moving out, others moving sideways- each tiny movement is calculated and ordered for the optimal result. It's really interesting seeing which teeth need to move first in order for others to move. This is where you are paying big- it's entirely personalised. Any limitations on the final result will be discussed with you. It's very clever! Fixed braces just mean whacking on a wire and hoping for the best.

Tinkobell · 21/03/2018 11:48

The Invisalign dudes invest heavily in CPD (continued professional development) which orthodontists take full advantage off. This field is progressing technologically at a very fast rate. We have tiny wire retainers fixed on the rear inside of the teeth but I was told this is changing and soon there will be a customised wire that is remotely manufactured from scans. The clear tray retainers worn at night are bigger than standard Invisaligns and a bit of a pash killer....but so are wonky teeth!

Thebirthdayparty · 21/03/2018 12:30

Fixed braces just means working on a wire and hoping for the best

And this is why you should never just believe what you read on Internet forums. Orthodontists use expanders, they ensure your teeth are spaced correctly, and in some cases, Invisalign is unsuitable and only traditional orthodontics will be used to provide the best result.

Thebirthdayparty · 21/03/2018 12:46

Whacking not working.

rainbowfudgee · 21/03/2018 13:15

Apologies Thebirthdayparty clearly I'm not trained in orthodontics but I do think invisalign can be more precise than train tracks due to the process- correct me if I'm wrong though.
My orthodontist is one of the diamond rated providers but was still cheaper than two other orthos I had free consultations with. It's worth looking at their track record an experience. Personally I wasn't happy using a cosmetic dentistry, my case is complex (hence 38 trays) so I was quite careful. It depends what's available in your area.

squiz81 · 21/03/2018 18:03

Mines a diamomd rated place too. Makes me feel more confident in them!

Theres a new app now too. You take a photo of your teeth each week and submit it. The orthodontist then checks weekly on your progress, in addition to going in every 6 weeks. Its a very clever process.
