sorry for the very long link.

im on a very tight budget and want to spend no more than £30, need leather and have to cover about 20 miles a week on foot on school run. my wardrobe colours are navy, deep and bleach denim, blue and grey. i'm 38 and am a skinny jean/ drapey knit/ fine gold layered trendy (well i hope so) jewellery type of person. i do like a low key but quality hand bag with me on errands after school.

are they too practical?

They fit really nicely.

DH hates them.

opinions? Thank you.

I really like them and they look perfect for your style and practical needs.

LIZS · 16/03/2018 14:49

I'm not sure they would be supportive enough for regular walking. That sort of style tends to give, so may not be a snug fit for long. A lace up trainer might be better if you can bear it style wise.

oohyoudevilyou · 16/03/2018 14:59

I've had a couple of pairs of those soft leather moccasin-type shoes (not Tu ones though) and they went a bit loose and floppy after a few wearings.

ivylace · 16/03/2018 15:07

I don't think they look supportive/long lasting enough for walking. I picked up some cheap Fitflop sneakers yesterday in the Cloggs sale for less than £30, they are really supportive and I can walk miles in them. They have 75% off at the moment, worth looking. They have Skechers as well on sale which are comfortable and long lasting.

MrsPeacockDidIt · 16/03/2018 15:57

These type of shows will be become floppy plus you can’t adjust them. My “walking” shoes which I mostly wear when camping have 2 Velcro straps which I find really useful to get just fit depending on weather I.e if my feet are a bit swollen in the heat. Can’t remember the brand of mine, horizon something, they were no way near as expensive as Merrill or the like.

clothcollector · 16/03/2018 16:09

ah thanks for replies.

not trying to offend but sporty velcro types are not my stye - i have some for forest/lake walks but i would like something sturdier than ballet pumps for walking on pavements for spring summer etc but not trainers as i pop to shops etc after school runs and wanted something semi smart.

Try Clarks outlet. They might have something more supportive

amberdixie · 16/03/2018 16:54

I live in loafers in the summer and I love them. They are so comfortable and supportive. Link won't work for me for some reason but you should be able to get some real leather for that price on eBay.

OutsideContextProblem · 16/03/2018 17:10

If I were you I’d get some brogues. You’ll be pushed to get a leather pair for your budget, but I reckon if you stacked a discount voucher with a sale price it should be doable. TK Maxx also worth a look.

The only ones I could find in budget were these beauties tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/p/Silver-Premium-Leather-Platform-Brogue/133062686-Silver# which I rather love but I grant may not be to everyone’s taste.

Plexie · 16/03/2018 17:15

They're OK. As other posters have said, eventually they will stretch and become unsupportive, which is why lace-ups are better in the long term. Will you be wearing them 5 days a week?

However they are within your limited budget, are available and fit you, so you might as well buy them!

RatherBeRiding · 16/03/2018 17:18

They are lovely but I think they will give with that amount of walking. How about some lace-up deck shoes?

clothcollector · 16/03/2018 17:24

oh wow, those silver brogues - swoon!!! Thanks outside, i will go make another order to compare them with the tan ones i have.

thanks for the suggestions about lace up deck shoes.

i still really like the tan ones but its the rubber at the heel that screams "dated" to me

TheNoseyProject · 16/03/2018 17:24

They’re ok but it’ll depend on the fit. TU don’t do half sizes which means I can’t wear them.

Office always have a sale rail, could you keep popping in and see what turns up? Or asos are a good cheap bet.

For example

Or higher cut around your foot

I live in Sainsbury’s tan leather loafers every summer and they’re always fabulously comfortable.

southeastlondonmum · 16/03/2018 17:44

Just in budget but would go for Sketchers Go Walk. They are so comfortable and they come in all sort of colours (and are machine washable). I had major surgery on my leg and everyone in my ward had the same.
