Help! I need a makeup overhaul, what's the best all round beauty counter to go to where they can advise what to buy and show me what to do?

I really wouldn’t just go to one. You might love the foundation of one brand but the mascara of another. But if I had to pick one I’d suggest Charlotte Tilbury.

Depends on your age and budget. I love Estée Lauder stuff but also buy Mac, Lancôme, etc. Will also depend on the individual who is working on that counter. Sorry to be not much help

Bobbi brown do really helpful lessons and I love their products

Kuriusoranj · 16/03/2018 09:27

I asked a similar question a few days ago and, after the vote, went to Bobbi Brown. I updated my thread after the experience, but basically it was great. Very recommended.

Loonoon · 16/03/2018 09:30

I,would rate Mac or Bobbi Brown for helpful lessons but unless you absolutely love a product don't buy on the spot. Shop around afterwards (or ask on here) for more affordable alternatives.

I used to be a Mac girl but have recently discovered Boots No 7 and I cannot believe how much I love the products and how much they suit my skin (both skin care and make up) for a fraction of the price. There are still a few things that I splurge on at Mac but all in all I am a No 7 convert!

LanguidLobster · 16/03/2018 11:22

Trish Mcevoy does that all in one interlocking make-up interlocking case but it's very expensive

Chicinwellies · 16/03/2018 15:04

Bare minerals or YSL. And I’ve tried zillions !

Tisgrand · 16/03/2018 15:22

What look are you going for? I'd recommend Bobbi Brown for a subtle natural look with great products but you might want a different look?

puddinggalore · 16/03/2018 16:29

Thanks everyone, I'm late 30s, busy Mum of 2, one with asd so just want to not look so tired and stressed all the time. Wanting a fairly simple routine, prefer a more natural look over a heavy made up one. Mid range budget.

I used to use only high end skincare and make up, I can no longer justify the cost of these and have been pleasantly surprised by elf cosmetics.

georgie262 · 16/03/2018 23:37

I would say either MAC Nars or I've recently discovered a brand called hourglass which is very expensive but if a quality I think is so far above anything g I've tried before. I've alway bought them online though so not sure where the counters are

Lanaa · 17/03/2018 05:29

Agree with Bobbi Brown for a subtle look. Nars might suit you too.

Pinklady1981 · 17/03/2018 08:39

I recently brought Bourjois city radiance it's a light foundation but cream. SPF 30. Nice coverage for everyday and smells gorgeous. I also use no7 B.B. cream and the stay perfect if I want something a little heavier. Bodyshop also do some great stuff xx

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 17/03/2018 08:46

Bobbi Brown used to be subtle and wearable.

Now Bobbi herself has left the brand it’s changing rapidly.

Littlelambpeep · 17/03/2018 08:47

I bought clarins recently .. really happy.
