Dare I wear Hotter Lace Ups?

I'm going on a couple of city breaks this spring, and want a pair of comfortable shoes to wear with jeans (I wear straight or boyfriend -
too thighsy for skinnies) . In the past I've worn my usual Brooks running trainers, but always felt a bit scruffy in restaurants etc. Would it be totally unreasonable to buy a pair of Hotter lace-ups? At 46? Don't want to totally jeopardise my chances of getting a shag, but blistered sore feet are a no-no, and the Hotter Tone lace ups come in a wide fit which would be ideal for my huge bunion-prone flippers. What do you think? What styles/colours are less OAP?

I meant to add that the intended shagging would be with my DH, who has low standards - obviously not so deluded to think anyone would pull in Hotter lace ups!

Could you wear ankle boots? My mum has a black pair of boots from hotter that look good & are comfortable to walk in.

They don't look like hotter iyswim.

It depends which ones you choose. I don't mind the nubuk ones with white soles but dislike the look of all the others.

Which ones are you thinking of? Quite a lot of the lace-ups just look like trainers to me, so that wouldn't solve your restaurant issue.

If it's a hot city, the jasmine sandals look pretty good - not dissimilar from Clarkes (which is another brand to check for comfort - ditto Geox and Ecco)

I'd considered the Tone lace ups in one of the colours that has the white soles. Want to avoid boots or sandals, and don't mind a nod towards trainer-styling - my Brooks and Nike running trainers are very multi coloured neon, so these Hotters are a lot more suitable for restaurants etc. I'm visiting Toronto and Amsterdam, so lots of walking planned, and weather can be as changeable as the UK.

Personally my favourites are Hotter Leanne - wider fit even more comfortable and Hotter Pixie boots .I default to these most days.If you choose colours carefully neither will stand out as scruffy and you will be able to walk in comfort .

I have some great shoes from Barbour. I walk for miles in them around London and they also look smart enough for business stuff. Pavers are also good for "comfort fit" shoes.

How about something like this instead www.ugg.com/uk/luci-bow-slip-on/1092515.html?dwvar_1092515_color=CHE#start=10&cgid=women-casual-shoes

Thanks, I'll have a look at Barbour, Ecco and Pavers too. Sandals and mules are nice, but having been to Amsterdam before and found the cobbles hard going I really want lace-ups: We'll be doing a lot of walking.

How about Skechers? I find the mesh pump styles fantastic for walking as they give good foot and arch support but are cool and lightweight. They also look 'younger' than Hotter so might improve your holiday sex life.

There’s 20% off on the Hotter website today. I’m so tempted by a pair of sandals but know they are totally unstylish. I just want comfy feet in the summer when running round after my toddler.

Astrabees · 16/03/2018 14:01

I have wide feet too and I have found that Ecco and Geox are comfortable and quite stylish.

Tumblrpigeon · 16/03/2018 14:34

Oh Lordy please get exactly what you like !

I am 43 and have been wearing Hotter shoes unashamedly since my late 20s. Am hyper-mobile so my arches collapse - ever city break it remembered by how much my feet hurt.

Wear what you like. Foot pain is not worth it. There are a lot of Hotter shoes that are not too Hotter-ish.

I did Rome in trainers from Hotter with the thickest soles I could find + their Memorise insoles. It was amazing. Comfy feet, no blisters at last!
