Sunbeds are a no no aren't they?

...But I'm going on holiday at Easter and I am so pasty looking-combination of this everlasting Winter and having been ill with cold/ear infection/chest infection on and off since Christmas.
Would it be skin Suicide to go and have a few sun bed sessions pre holiday to take the edge off my general grey pallor so I don't look grim for the first week of the holiday?

Yes. Skin suicide.

You wouldn't take up smoking to suppress appetite would you? same thing.

Get a fake tan

SporkInTheToaster · 15/03/2018 09:32

Just no. If you really are self conscious about your pale skin, I agree with PP, use a fake tan or gradual tanning moisturiser. Much safer and you’ll not prematurely age your skin with unnecessary exposure to incredibly intense UVA.

Mulberrysilk · 15/03/2018 09:32

It's suicide, not just for your skin.

Fake it.

AnoiaUnstickMyDrawers · 15/03/2018 09:34

Just don't. I'd rather be pasty than have skin cancer.

Have a spray tan - they are supposed to be much less orange now.

Thankyou for talking me down Grin I sometimes need to be saved from myself.spray tan it is...

Please don't. I've lost two friends in their 40's to melanoma in the last 18 months. Both had used sun beds on rare occasions when younger. The risk is real - it's not a scare tactic. Just fake tan and then protect your skin properly when you get there.

endofthelinefinally · 15/03/2018 12:17

I thought they were banned now.
I know 2 people, one a good friend, who developed melanoma. One died in her late 40s, the other had a large chunk of her leg removed. Both were sunbed fans.
I was told by a friend (who has worked as a bouncer for many years) that sunbed places are often just a front for drug dealing and money laundering. So a bit dubious on several counts IMO.
