  1. Bought and paid for superking duvet cover. Arrived - only a double.
  2. Ditto pair pillowcases - only one in packet
  3. Rude and Obstructive Manager troubles when you try and collect anything - or worse, bring faulty or incomplete goods back. You can't - and the store is breaking the law. Do they care? No need to answer that.
  4. Today, I pop in to pick up a final jewellery order. Explain to lady behind till my phone is broken and give her my ID and order details. This worked last week when my phone first broke down. I checked with the staff it was ok to pick up the order. Manager says no. He has that insta-irritating jobsworth smug refusal tone.

Mardy Manager wants to see my phone. I show him it doesn't work. He refuses to get my order. I say 'Please don't push me away. I know you can give me the goods I have bought and paid for.' Mardy Mgr, he says NO. I repeat.

I say to Mardy Mgr look, I 'm going to cancel the order if I can't collect it. What choice have I got? Please don't push me away. -

Just don't.

If you don't like their service stop going there 😂

upsideup · 15/03/2018 09:24

"please don't push me away" when nobody has touched you or attempted to touch you is the sort of ridiculous dramatic phrase that would make me as a manager immediately suspect that you are recording the situation for the purposes of some sort of scam/claim and immediately then shut you down anyway.

Yep.

cloudtree · 15/03/2018 09:31

As for the “don’t push me away”...has no one ever heard this turn of phrase? confused. You don’t have to be physically pushed to say this. You’d say it to someone who’s doesn’t want to open up to you emotionally and shuts you out.

Yes, perhaps in that context but not to a shop manager!

SparklyMagpie · 15/03/2018 10:19

😂😂😂 Christ! It's a shop manager not a relationship

LanaorAna2 · 15/03/2018 10:21

Lots of angry till staff here...and some managers of doubtful competence too :)

😂😂😂 @cloudtree

MrsJoshDun · 15/03/2018 11:09

Yes, if a husband or boyfriend was emotionally shutting down someone might say “don’t push me away”.

But saying it to a shop worker smacks of total drama llamadom and would make me think you were a bit batshit. I’m not a retail worker or manager btw. Grin

ABuckToothedGirlinLuxembourg · 15/03/2018 11:15

I’ve found them quite difficult to return things to instore. They grill you about why you don’t want it. Saying it’s too big/small doesn’t seem to be enough!

MissMary0fSweden · 15/03/2018 15:58

Well yeah, that's the point- bloody weird to say it to a Shop Manager!

It did remind me of a time when I saw a woman asked to step back inside Superdrug by a security guard, she started yelling TAKE YOUR HANDS OFF ME to the guy who was at least four feet away Grin

LanaorAna2 · 15/03/2018 17:48

This thread is cheering me up and I started it as the aggrieved party Grin

Mad or not, my ring and money are still with TK so I am going to potter back in there and see if I get either of them back.

Haha let us know what happens OP !

Hopefully you'll get another manager, glad you've not taken it all to heart :)

cloudtree · 15/03/2018 19:48

Top tip OP. Don't speak to the manager like he's a boyfriend breaking up with you and you might get a bit further Grin Wink

falsepriest · 15/03/2018 20:00

Why would they want to see your phone? And why would you have a non-working phone with you anyway? And why would you keep using a store that's allegedly let you down? Calling BS / you're mental.

AmazingDetectiveSlashGenius · 16/03/2018 07:58

I use them a lot and have never had a problem returning things to store, usually just because I don't like them or I bought two similar items to compare and return one.

WhyteKnyght · 16/03/2018 12:41

Never had a problem with them in-store, but I ordered a matching set of kitchen jars and they arrived with one smashed to smithereens and another with a huge chunk out of it because some absolute genius had literally just shoved them into a cardboard box with a tiny bit of tissue paper. No bubblewrap, no protective polystyrene, no nothing. I assume it's a misguided attempt to save money on packaging, but what did they think was going to happen?! They refunded me for the broken jars when I emailed a photo, but said they wouldn't refund the return postage if I sent the (heavy) unbroken ones back, even though they were clearly bought as a matching set. Will never order anything breakable from them online ever again after that experience. "Piss-up" and "brewery" come to mind.
