Blending eyeshadow

I've been googling, but I'm not much wiser!

Whenever I try to blend eyeshadow I just end up removing it.

What am I doing wrong? Is it the product? My brushes? My technique? My skin? I use eyeshadow primer but I'm not finding any difference.

Please help!

Its probably a bit of everything! If you want lovely blended eyeshadow you need to:

Prime your eyes with an eyeshadow primer - you can use concealer for this too, anything that blocks out the colour from the veins or whatever in your eyelid. - Set this with a powder!! Otherwise the product you put ontop will just stick to the primer!

Use a fluffy blending brush (for eyeshadow) in a light circular motion, don't be too havy handed with the brush!

What steps are you using at the moment OP?x

everything apart from your skin! sorry!!

Right I'm missing out the setting with powder!

I think my brush technique is bad. Probably using it more like a rubber than windscreen wipers combined with circular movements.

Yeah try and set it with powder so the eyeshadow doesn't stick straight to the primer, this should make it a bit more blendable!

What brush are you using at the moment, try not to be too heavy handed too! Hold the brush nearer the end, so you still have control over it but its not too heavy on your eyelid! x

I have the same issue. Watched any amount of videos but my technique is lacking. Watching with interest

Blending is something you learn by years of practice.

First of all: prime, prime, prime. Use a very good eyeshadow primer, such as mac paintpot in soft ochre. It's not cheap but it will last ages
Secondly: you need a good blending brush. At the beginning it needs to be small and definitely syntetic hair so your moves can be small and controlled.
Thirdly: you need a light hand. Don't push or put pressure on the brush.

Best of luck☺️

Right probably not using a light touch.

Also using whatever roughly the right shape brush comes to hand. Blush

I don't like that thing everyone does now of putting a dark shade in the socket and then blending upwards. Even when it's done really well, I think it looks like someone has been punched in the eye.
I think blending is easier if the dark colour is just on the outer corner of the lid and on the lash line.
