tongs? lots of spray?

MrsBadger · 07/05/2007 14:56

link here

go to a hairdresser
otherwise hot rollers in wet hair + setting lotion are pretty good.

You need to start off with some silicon based leave in spray. Then when your hair is damp after washing, spray it on, then partially dry, apply more silicon and make long strands of it into twists, then roll up in damp rags. Leave for a couple of hours, pull out, then add more silicon to relax them.

I have ringlets naturally FFS and I fecking hate them so I can't think why you would want to look like this but hope it works for you

Have a go first in plenty of time, but I recently turned my poker-straight long hair into a cascade of curls for a pirate costume thing.
Ok, wash hair, rub in plenty of mousse when damp, when hair is semi-dry, divide into sections and roll up into little buns, secure with hair bobbles or strips of rag. Spray with hairspry. sleep on it. In morning, undo fstenings, - do NOT brush through! run a little shine lotion through fingers and scrunch through hair. Finish with hairpsray - lasts all day and well into next day too. Don't be alarmed by tightness of curl, it will loosen up within an hour, especially if you do the hair shine stuff.

The other option is those ringlety curling tongs. Again, mousse etc before curling, you will need someone to help you do the back. This is quite good for the ringletty ends look like your photo.
The rags method is more all over curls.

The most important thing is to have a go well in advance to see what works for you! A friend of mine had her hair permed the day before the wedding. It was horrendous, the perm didn't work at all well, he hair went YelloW, her scalp was pink and she ended up in floods of tears with a foul fake-flowered headress thing which was hurridly 'created' half an hour before she walked down the aisle...

dinny · 07/05/2007 22:28

perm?

southeastastra · 07/05/2007 22:28

carmen rollers, or a perm, ooh i'd love a perm

dinny · 07/05/2007 22:28

can they do temp ones?

TwirlyN · 07/05/2007 22:33

whilst hair is dampish, roll around your finger, then hairclip said ringlet to your head, do about 20 or so all around, leave over night, DO NOT BRUSH, toss with fingers, spray, voila. ringlette hair. Do try before hand though.

TerribleMuriel · 07/05/2007 22:40

My friend does this look with straighteners - make a pin curl (twist hair into curl with your fingers) then clamp with straighteners. Looks lovely, loose and bit wild and tousled. I would get the hairdresser to do it for you.

Aero · 08/05/2007 12:57

Mine was temporary. Fell out over next day or two. It was like having a perm, but without using whatever it is they use to make the curls permenent.

My next door neighbour had hers done for her wedding. She has very dark, straight thick hair. The hairdresser did it with straightening irons. Twisting the hair round them I think - NOT curling tongs tho. She had loads of practice runs and it stayed in perfectly all day, was still looking good enough to go out in the next day having slept on it and by the third day it still all hadn't fallen out! Amazing. Go to a hairdresser as I am not sure of the exact technique they used and I cant ask her cos she is on honeymoon!!
