Booked in for tummy tuck in 2 days, any advice for recovery?

Hi all, I've booked to have a tummy tuck Thursday morning. I have muscle separation after gestational diabetes and I've tried physio, pilates, tupler technique and mutu but it's still very wide so I've finally decided to have it fixed. They'll take away my excess skin and shelf while they're in there so thats a bonus! Paying privately and have chosen my surgeon after two other consultations.

Feeling quite nervous and a bit teary today, I've never had a general anaesthetic and I have read a lot that it's very painful afterwards.

I've had two c-sections, one was horrific and one was a dream so I know I can live through the pain but worried about a long hard recovery. I'm 35, in good health and a normal BMI so hopefully I have a good chance of things going well. Has anyone done this? What was recovery like? Is there anything I can organise in advance to help make it easier.

I would so consider it
I'm having nipple surgery in 4 weeks
The older I get the more this shit matters Hmm
Maybe it's because I'm single and need to love my body
I hate being naked in front of a man

I paid £6470 and that included 2 nights in hospital in The Circle in Reading. I originally found my surgeon in a Tatler cosmetic surgery guide. I know how that sounds, it was in a waiting room and I was just gathering names to google anywhere I could find them 😂. I found other names through Realself reviews and googling and then I saw 3 and he was my favourite because he was so lovely to me (I was terrified) and because he seemed realistic and conservative. He didn’t suggest Lipo for me (others had) and he does lots of tummy tucks. Happy to PM his details to anyone who wants them but he’ll also come up if you google the circle in Reading I think. I couldn’t find much about him online but there’s one review of his work on Realself with pictures. I’ll put pics up myself when I’m healed. Recovery is rough but not unbearable, I miss being able to properly hold my kids though!

Glad you're healing well and that the pain is manageable
Let us know when you're healed and post some pics

Thanks for all the info OP. this is not something I can’t afford right now but if I ever can I certainly intend to do. I lost 6 stone after my third pregnancy and the skin is hanging off me on my stomach/overhang. I am really fit and toned elsewhere- my stomach doesn’t match the rest of my body. Best of luck with your recovery. Glad it’s all going well so far.

How are you getting on OP? How was the recovery?

MiniCooperLover · 29/05/2018 11:57

OP, if it's not too intrusive would you be able to show some before and after pictures of your tummy? Apologies if that's too cheeky to ask. I'm very interested in potentially having this done.

@theyoniwayisnorthwards I've been debating this for years after 2 CS and steroid weight gain have left me with a huge apron of flab & skin quite disproportionate to my figure. Any before & after photos would be amazing!

CookPassBabtridge · 30/05/2018 14:15

Yes OP please come back and update.

mozzchops I am very much like you. Size 8-10 (I'm tall), BMI 20, fit, muscular, but a horrible overhang. It's even worse when I lose weight as the skin is more wrinkly and saggy. I am also reading with interest !
