Toners... are they worth it?

I've always bought the same brand cleaner and toner but I'm wondering if toner can be any cheap thing? Is there an actual difference between them? It doesn't feel like they do anything extravagant.

My skin is really sensitive and dehydrated albeit combination during the summer months.

Currently I'm using body shop aloe cleanser, matching toner, la Roche posse hydraphase serum and then Waitrose night cream/ body shop aloe day cream.

Thinking of switching to the Waitrose day cream as well and potentially replacing toner with just a bog standard basic one from
The simple range or something?

Can anyone recommend a toner for my skin type ?

Try rosewater in a big bottle (kitchen department)

Or jusy cold water

Toners used to be to take off the last bits of cleanser. Then they fell out of fashion and are now back again but in a more sophisticated way
So some are acid toners and exfoliate, some add moisture
I would go with this one https://www.marieclaire.com/beauty/a13733733/hada-labo-hyaluronic-lotion-reviews/

But you can buy it off eBay, much much cheaper usually. It actually adds moisture and does something, as opposed to some of the high street ones where you may as well use water

I've used Liz Earle skin tonic for years and notice the difference in brightness if I don't use it. It's lovely and kind of calms and settles the skin after cleansing. It smells beautiful to-do much so that I wish they would maker a perfume that smells the same

Try Pixi Glow Tonic, sold in lots of M&S stores and online (maybe Beauty bay?).
It's the best one I've used and really notice a difference if I use another brand.

Another recommendation for Pixi glow tonic. I have used acid exfoliant toners for years but when I switched to Pixi I got noticeable results.

I’ve started using pure witch hazel instead of a toner and it’s made my skin so much better.

Another recommendation for Pixi glow tonic! Honestly it transformed my skin, can't recommend it enough

Notwellbitch · 11/03/2018 21:03

Witch hazel gradually made my skin redder. I only realised it was probably that recently and switched to la Roche posay effaclar clarifying solution and it's made a huge difference.

I also used hado labo hyaralonic lotion for a while and it was great, not really a toner though. Reminds me I should get some more!

@bluesheep snap! I love LE skin tonic and have said for years I wish they'd do a perfume that smelt like it.

I've recently started using The Ordinary glycolic acid toner and love it - my skin is visibly brighter now. I think Pixi Glow Tonic might be a very similar formula?

Loonoon · 11/03/2018 22:11

pixi Glow is fabulous. I am nearly 60 with very dry sensitive skin and love it. It leaves my skin moist and glowing. One DD is late 20s with acne prone, dry skin and swears by it. Other DD is younger with oily skin and also uses it. It seems to be a wonder product. Alpha H is good too.

cloudtree · 11/03/2018 23:28

liquid gold is fab. I like the rose gold one. My skin has been much better since I started using it.

purpleviolet1 · 12/03/2018 08:34

Will check out pixie glow, thanks. I'm just a bit concerned about using so many products which do something iykwim

Aloe cleanser
Pixie glow toner
Hydraphase serum
Day/ night cream

Nip+fab daily cleansing pads once a week
Clarisonic once a week
No7 total renewal microdermabrasion once a week

Any suggestions?
