Foundation-Am I asking too much!

Is there such a thing as a long lasting medium/full coverage foundation that isn’t a matte finish? It needs to cover occasional spots and redness.
My current favourites are Estée Lauder double wear & huda beauty faux filter but they’re very matte and I don’t think they do my aging face any favours.

Have you tried a mineral foundation? They give fantastic coverage and are long lasting without looking cakey and dry.
I've used the L'Oreal true match mineral foundation a few times and been really impressed with it.

Have you tried your double wear with their illuminating primer? I was using mine with the mattifying primer because of my combo skin but found after a couple of hours that it was caking and generally not looking nice at all.
Tried different foundations but none were as good as double wear for coverage and longevity.

Finally spoke to the Estée Lauder girl at Debenhams and she recommended trying the illuminating primer underneath and lo and behold it looks much better. It’s not caking anymore looks a little dewy and still lasts for hours.
I apply mine with a damp beauty blender, a light dusting of Dior forever and ever control powder gently patted in and then setting spray.

Good luck, I hope you find a combination that works for you. It’s really annoying when you spend a lot of time and money but are left feeling let down with the results, especially as we age!

Nars Sheer Glow is very good

I used to love Estée Lauder doublewear but stopped using it as I found ysl touché eclait foundation. I love that, ysl will give you a sample of fairly decent size to try first too. It’s around £30 which I find good value as it does last me all day.

HAve you tried the No 7 options? I use StayPerfect superlight and it's great - good coverage, stays on, but not matte.

I also see that Charlotte Tilbury has brought out something new - something to do wiht photoready or some such marketing tosh! I find her actual foundaqtion too heavy and cloying, but this new one could be what you're looking for.

I'm also a long term fan of Double Wear and don't think there is anything else as long lasting.

As I've got older, I find I have to make sure skin is as moisturised as possible firstly, and then use a major illuminator underneath for it still to look good.

Although I've got Beauty Pie foundation on order so will see if it can tempt me away.

Also have heard so many good reports of the Nars one that I'm tempted...

Revlon colour stay . Love it so much after trying countless others over the years . Full coverage without clinging to any fine lines ns lasts all day

FoofFighter · 13/03/2018 20:17

I've just bought (don't laugh fashionistas!) Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid foundation - it's got a bit of glow, great coverage, and it's the only foundation I've had in recent years that actually needs taking off at the end of the day, most others wear away/slide off me.

Cheap at £8 plus it seems to be BOGOHP everywhere just now. Shade selection is too many though, very mind boggling!! I had to ask for help in Boots.

Ive used that Maybelline foundation before and it’s not bad at all!

thethoughtfox · 13/03/2018 21:28

userofthiswebsite I use Mont Blanc A lighter colour would probably be a perfect match for me but this shade looks lovely and doesn't need blended into my neck.

sinceyouask · 14/03/2018 10:16

On the cheaper side, Max Factor's Miracle Match is not bad at all. I find it looks pretty dreadful immediately after application but within 5 minutes or so settles to look really nice- fairly decent coverage and a nice glowy finish. I haven't found a way of getting it to stay on without needing touch ups more than a few hours though.

Chanelprincess · 14/03/2018 15:41

Another vote for Chanel Vitalumiere, mixed with Becca Lit from Within or Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter for extra glow. I use Smashbox oil free primer underneath for longevity and a cream blusher to keep the dewy finish.

KittenBeast · 14/03/2018 16:54

Max-Factor colour adapt is brilliant, it's not too too matte. Best foundation I've ever used hands down. And I've tried the lot. Best of all, it's kind on the wallet!

Alicatz66 · 14/03/2018 17:32

YSL touché eclat has a few votes on here .. I would agree .. my skin is quite dry .. it gives a glow without being shiny .. it's fab

GUMBYMUMBY · 14/03/2018 19:02

I absolutely love the Maybelline foundations, they are perfect. Strangely Max Factor Pan Stik is not matte and looks nice... I quite like Pan Stik. I also use a Shiseido concealer.

GUMBYMUMBY · 14/03/2018 19:04

Oh yes- forgot I mix my 24hr Maybelline foundation with Garnier BB and Blur. I have the Maybelline in Cameo and the other in the darker shade ( they do two).
