Shocked at my craggy eyes! REN eye lift?

In the hairdressers this week and it was a harsh wake-up call looking into the mirror that the wrinkles under and at the side of my eyes show I'm definitely the (very) wrong side of 40 now.
I'm prepared to accept there is no miracle cure to reverse this but some daily subterfuge won't go amiss.
Quick online search (Sali Hughes oh how I love thee) is suggesting REN instant brightening beauty shot eye lift is good. I quite liked the face version apart from being a bit crumbly. Anyone used the eye lift and what do you think? Worth the £32? Or is there something better out there you'd all recommend?

I bought it and it is awful - made me doubt sali’s recs as I just don’t see how it could work - dries to a powdery finish and makes area look worse

There is a miracle cure...but not everyone is up for it.

MissMalteser · 04/03/2018 11:21

@tossdaily I didn’t think you could Botox the eye area? Also on the look out for something! At 34 I have just the beginnings of fine lines around the eye area but I’ve surprised myself with how much I dislike them!

holycityzoo · 04/03/2018 11:35

Yes you can have Botox around your eyes. I've had it done at the sides and underneath. The sides were brilliant in fact it seems to have stopped them in their tracks as I don't have any now (I'm sure they will return!) underneath was ok not brilliant. I've moved to a different practitioner now and not sure if she offers it as I didn't have my eyes done this time just forehead and frown line.

holycityzoo · 04/03/2018 11:36

Sorry I meant I don't know if she offers the under eye area as I know some places don't. Sides of eyes everyone does.

TossDaily · 04/03/2018 11:44

Yup. I had Botox on my crows' feet last week and it's miraculous.

FireandBrimstone · 04/03/2018 12:05

I don't think I'm in the market (or have the finances) for Botox yet. My wrinkles would probably disagree Blush

Sadly, no cream in the world works on wrinkles. Retinol is the only thing that makes some difference. Botox for the forehead and crows feet and fillers for the cheeks.

papayasareyum · 04/03/2018 14:32

Protect and perfect serum in Boots, works really well on lines around eyes, as long as they’re fine lines, not really deep. I know three people who’ve had Botox and they all look strangely devoid of expression and odd, (but love their Botox apparently!!) so I’d avoid that.

Kitsharrington · 04/03/2018 14:54

Around the eyes I think it depends what the lines actually are. Actual crows feet (which appear at the outer edge of the eye when you squint), can be gently botoxed to reduce their appearance. Smile lines on the other hand (which appear when your cheek pushes the skin up under your eyes when you smile) really shouldn’t be botoxed, as I think it always looks unnatural and frozen. Hydration is best here.

FireandBrimstone · 04/03/2018 15:25

The smile lines are the main problems. Would retinol work there and what would be a good product to try? I've not had great success with No7 P and P products, they always feel quite greasy on my skin.

Olay have a new Retinol for eyes product out. It’s in a white tube with Silver nozzle (love that word...nozzle nozzle nozzle). I’ve had it a week because I’m suddenly all wrinkly under my eyes. Not bothered about smile lines, as such but saggy skin under my eyes...NO!

Anyway, it might work. I tried the LRP one and is stung like mad. But then, that’s just me with skin stuff at the moment.

FireandBrimstone · 06/03/2018 21:06

Thanks for the product suggestions. I've been picking up on here about Retinol possibly being irritating on skin and I'm tempted by the fact that the Beauty Pie retinol eye Stuff is slow release. My skin can be quite sensitive. Also the price of the BP stuff is a bit more palatable! But will definitely look into the ones being recommended here too.
