Does anyone do this, and if so, how do you find it? I’m curious about it.

I don’t have acne scars but have dull dry skin, looking at 0.5 for collagen and product absorption.

I've never understood it. Cuts in epidermis are replaced with scar tissue not new epidermis if my wound care training is correct.

I can see how it would help make a big scar smaller but not how your going to manufacture new epidermis from a cut.

Apparently it “tricks” the skin to produce collagen but I’m unsure how true it is... I also wondered about scarring.

I was ready to go with my roller but was totally put off by stuff I read online. Ended up not doing it.

Collagens not specific to epidermis though, it'll have to replace the damage with something & will patch the area with scar tissue because epithelium that's cut into isn't readily replaceable.

Collagens in skin, blood cells, ligaments.

It all just sounds a bit cod science to me. If you're covered in scars anyway you've got nothing to lose by replacing one big area of scarring with thousands of little ones instead.

I tried it ages ago but my skin is so sensitive it was too painful to continue.

Have done this and used emla cream beforehand. Made no difference to scarring but did make the skin softer

Thanks. I don’t have issues with scarring more dryness and just general dullness

What's your routine at the moment?

CatsForgotPassword · 02/03/2018 18:21

Cleanse, face wash and bio oil and moisturiser. Exfoliate once a week. Face mask as needed.

Skin was a bit messed up from pregnancy (I had lots of losses in succession so hormones all over the place) and this is helping but it’s full

Face wash is drying, and bio oil is basically baby oil i.e. It doesn't add moisture it contains what's there.

How about grape seed oil to cleanse, then Superdrug naturally radiant 5% glycolic toner and a moisturiser from the ordinary? I use a small amount of hylauronic acid after my twice weekly peel and it's so moisturising.

If you email the ordinary they'll suggest a routine. Those scrubs are very harsh on the face. You can do the ordinarys 30% aha peel at home once a week and it's really gentle. Stings at first but that goes quickly.

Thanks Fluffy. I found bio oil helped clear up hormonal breakouts but will look at switching to grape seed oil. And I’ll look at the ordinary too.

I used to use it as well. I had a break from it and when I tried again with it I didn't find it as good.

CatsForgotPassword · 02/03/2018 20:17

Is there any particular grape seed oil I should get by the way? Or just google it and get the cheapest?

The massage supplies companies do them, or simple used to do one but it’s £8. You only need a bit so it lasts ages.

Food grade won’t be suitable. I’ve tried that and broken out.
