Independent online clothes shopping for 13 yr old dd

Can anyone recommend decent websites for tennage girls clothes. Not interested in chains like h & m and primark ie cheap, poor quality synthetic fibre clothing made by women and children paid a pittance. I’m looking for good quality, natural fibres preferably made in the uk, clothing that will take some wear and still be in one piece for dd2 and cousins later. Not fast fashion. Actually not interested in chains at all so no Zara, top shop, river island , bloody boden etc etc. Are there any quirky individual online boutiques for teens before they are able to fit into small women’s sizes? Thank you

Urban outfitters do vintage clothing .

Tralalee · 01/03/2018 16:09

My 13 year old likes urban outfitters and topshop.

I can't imagine a quirky made in Britain (therefore expensive) range would be at all popular with teens tbh. But my 13 year old fits a size 6 so you might find some adult ranges?

cloudberry · 01/03/2018 16:17

Thank you. I know, quirky and 13 year old girl not an obvious fit, but I suppose I really meant is there anywhere I can look that sells clothes that aren’t heavily made from cheap sythetic fibres and stink of chemicals, fall to pieces almost immediately and will last. Quirky is the wrong word to use here. She doesn’t need a vast wardrobe and is only just 13 but goes straight up and down with no waist which makes sizing hard. She isn’t very sophisticated and is into her riding so is looking for practical clothes rather than high fashion.

Jack wills

I find a lot of natural fibres at uniqlo they're a Japanese brand so the sizing is a bit on the smaller size.

EBay? Or took? Look for designer brands she likes.

BeachyUmbrella · 01/03/2018 16:47

You are right in Brandy Melville territory....

I would start with what does your DD actually want to wear?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 01/03/2018 17:21

My sister used to shop at Blue Banana as a teen. Its definitely quirky but not sure if too alternative? It would have been nirvana to my 13 year old self but sadly I am a lot older than my sister and it wasn't around then!

I've never noticed dds topshop clothes stinking of chemicals! Some of them have gone through 3 dds

Tralalee · 01/03/2018 17:55

Yes brandy melville also good although not amazing quality

Hollister and Jack wills are expensive but decent

DillyDilly · 01/03/2018 18:34

To be honest, at 13 yo I’m surprised your DD wants you to pick where you buy her clothes. Think it’s strange too to be looking for clothes for that age that can be passed to a sibling and then on to cousins.

Don’t know what your budget is but how about hoodies from Superdry, Hollister, Jack Wills, Pink and jeans from Hollister, leggings from Pink, etc.

Tralalee · 01/03/2018 18:58

One of the best things about being a teen is wearing cheap fashionable clothes! Can't she choose her own things? Mine ride too but still manage to have very strong opinions about what they want to wear Hmm

Sadik · 01/03/2018 19:08

Not quite the same, but dd (about to turn 16, but tiny & hasn't grown since she was 13) has been wearing 2nd hand vintage levis from ebay for the last 2-3 years. We both got fed up of teen range jeans wearing out pretty much instantly esp. as she won't wear skinnies, & anything else is hard to find in teen sizes.

Tops - again lots of ebay stuff - surf brands (some are UK made), SoulCal, Punkyfish, Cyberdog, that sort of thing.

"To be honest, at 13 yo I’m surprised your DD wants you to pick where you buy her clothes."
Teens vary - at that age DD definitely wanted me to come up with suggestions that she could pick from, she absolutely CBA to put in the time/effort to find stuff herself.

cloudberry · 01/03/2018 20:02

Ok, firstly thank you so much for your suggestions. Secondly, my dd likes to choose her clothes but also likes my input. She is a young 13 year old, not at all interested in fashion yet so not really ‘teeny’ yet whatever that means. Not sure why it would be odd to think of handing down clothes Confused, my kids are perfectly happy to have new or hand-me-downs, getting a bags of clothes from a friend is very exciting and I pass outgrown clothes in to friends and family which are received in the same way. I don’t want to encourage my dc to develop a fast fashion habit: buy, wear, discard and buy again. She will want to shop with her friends soon enough but until then it’s my money buying her clothes and I’d prefer to spend it on decent quality items that will last. About the smell, I had chemo three years ago and very weirdly since then I have become much more sensitive to smells and really notice walking into many shops, how unpleasantly chemically a lot of clothes smell. All three dc and dh ask me to wash new clothes before they wear them so it’s not just me. I’ve also noticed that clothes with a lot of polyester don’t get worn. Dd 2 chucked a nightdress outside her room the other night and said it made her itch and asked me to change a pillowcase that was 50/50 cotton and polyester that also made her itch and feel too hot. Anyway, some great suggestions so thank you.
