What’s the best product for straightening hair?

After several years of living with sometimes curly but mostly wavy and frizzy hair, I’ve —had a midlife crisis— reverted to straightening. I’ve got GHDs but actually I think it looks better when it’s blow dried straight; it’s just a bit less severe. Would really welcome product recommendations - it’s naturally wavy and hideously frizzy. What should I invest in? Any other top tips?

And apparently I can’t strike through my text either. Hmm

Following - anyone tried those electric straightening brushes with the ceramic prongs in

Lee Stafford flat iron protection shine mist is good with straighteners or when blow drying. Schwarzkopt Got2b guardian angel blow dry and flat iron heat protection is also good and gives a nice shine

Great - some stuff for me to try. Thank you. Is there a hairbrush I should be covering? Mine is distinctly average.

Depends on your hair type and style but always worth investing in a good brush. I use this type as it stops my hair frizzing when blow drying and adds some volume. My hair is long, thick and natutally wavy but I always blow it straight. Some recommend paddle brushes but I look like crystal tips and alistair -but worse- if I use one

PS ignore the reference to curls as you can use it for straightening

When I have time - I have done the home keratin kits that you can get from Amazon - but have to also get the salt free shampoo and conditioner as well or it doesn't last

It's been a while years since I've been in a big Boots/Superdrug so maybe there is now a version of the keratin kit there now?

Step away from the ghds! Get yourself a L’Oréal Steampod. My hair is naturally wavy but after years of GHD abuse it’s frizzy even when straightened. The steam pod literally changed my life. It’s pricey but so worth it, you can read blog reviews to see before and after pics and if it’s for you. It works best when you use it with the lotion but I use it without when I run out and it still works fine just not quite as well. Also only takes 10-15 minutes to do my hair compared to an hour with ghds!

I have no idea why this works, but it does. I have very thick, dry, coarse, kinky hair which was (is!) an absolute nightmare to blow dry. I've recently been experimenting with different shampoos and conditioners to see if this would make any difference and it would seem that using paraben, sulfate & silicone free products really helps.

So far I've tried Dr Organic's Rose Otto shampoo & conditioner and also their Aloe Vera. For some reason, hair blow dries much easier and straighter and it doesn't go completely nuts overnight. Hair is very soft, but when I brush it afterwards it's hellishly full of static. The Rose Otto does smells fabulous (if you don't mind smelling like Turkish delight!).

Going to try the Faith in Nature products next.

Oooh I’m very interested in this steam pod thing - tell me more! Does it give a nicer finish than ghds? I find they give quite a severe, kind of unattractive finish ifyswim?!
