Best place for a hair re-style in London?

So, I've just had about the fifth haircut in a row (all in different hairdressers) where I once again look like a mushroom, and I've decided to go all out for my next haircut, as a last ditch attempt to look actually stylish.

I'm prepared to pay a reasonably significant attempt (up to £150?) to get a really really good haircut, and need a hairdresser who can advise me on what would suit me, as clearly what I am asking for, repeatedly, does not work!

And then, if I do not get a decent hair cut after throwing money it I will accept my destiny, and remain a mushroom head forever.

I'm planning on a weekend in London for my birthday, so thought I'd got for it then. Hit me with your best recommendations!

Daniel Galvin are good (but expensive) for this kind of thing. I went there to get my hair fixed after a disasterous butcher job at my local Supercuts.
Charlotte or George at the DG salon that’s in Selfridges are both really good. It was £100 for wash, cut and blow dry. If I could afford it I would always go back to them!

Thanks. I'm hoping if I can get one good cut, then at least I can have pictures to show other stylists in the future? I think it's a combination of not great hairdressers, and also I'm asking for something that doesn't really suit me. Or I can't describe what I want.
Either way, i want a hairdresser who can basically tell me what to do

I recommend Chris at Feel hairdressers in soho- he’s great at actually listening to what you ask for, and doing it! And will advise on possible issues if something you want won’t work
I used to be a box head, so can sympathise on the mushroom head issue :)

Thanks, that sounds good, and also not that expensive! I was prepared for people to be telling me I wouldn't get a decent cut in London for that money

Op I'm following as I need to do the same. After my last haircut I look like I'm wearing a clown wig.
On another thread someone advised not only bringing photos of what you want but also bringing photos of what you don't want. I guess if what you don't want is right there on your (and my) head then it seems less important, but having more than just the one example of what you're trying to avoid might be helpful.

Try Percy and Reed in Great Portland Street. Darren is great circa £100. Very trendy hairdresser. I am wondering having suffered from mushroom head whether you might need to grow your hair a bit before a restyle is attempted otherwise there is little to work with. Do you mean a bob btw?

I also hear Mia at Windle and Moodie in Covent Garden is excellent although I haven't been to her. Richard Ward was complete rubbish and very up themselves.

Another vote for Daniel Galvin here.

Sorry Ross - don’t know where Darren came from!

Firstaidnovice · 27/02/2018 18:28

Yeah, I'm thinking ahead to June for the next cut, to give it chance to recover. I feel like I have been asking for a longish inverted Bob, but it always seems to be the same length all the way around, and my hair naturally poofs out a bit at the bottom, so it's quite mushroomy.
I definitely want a good hairdresser, but not at all sneery or too cool or whatever. Will definitely investigate some of these further

Fer at George Northwood is fabulous. He is very cool but super friendly and really listens to what you want, don't be put off by his coolness he is fab!

Also agree with Hillingdon on Richard Ward.
