“No woman Is fine with fine hair”

I’ve just heard this statement on a shampoo advert. I know that all beauty advertising plays on insecurities but for some reason this one got me particularly angry. Why can’t I be fine with fine hair ffs??

What a load of bobbins.

My hair is fine and so am I. And so are you, Painty.

Just ignore. And don't buy their products. (Is it Unilever? They've lost the blardy plot recently re advertising)

AssassinatedBeauty · 26/02/2018 21:23

Is this a UK tv advert? Wow.

feelslikearockandahardplace · 26/02/2018 21:26

I'd rather have fine hair than the thinning disaster I have. Ignore them Paintbox and boycott their products Flowers

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 26/02/2018 21:27

I agree and thought Hmm when I saw that advert, anyway they can they will find a way to try to make women feel like shit about themselves so they spend money on shampoo that will do fuck all.

TheQueenOfWands · 26/02/2018 21:29

What a wanky advert.

Plenty of women are fine with one leg or a life-limiting illness.

Fine hair is no biggie.

Honestly, the things people are told to worry about is absurd.

goose1964 · 26/02/2018 21:29

I'd rather have my hair back to being fine. I had baby fine hair until my pregnancies and it thickened with each, I now have more hair than is strictly necessary

Paintbox · 26/02/2018 21:29

I’m glad you agree it’s a shitty statement to make. I think it’s the blatant nature of it. Someone telling me I am not fine because of my hair is not on. I AM FINE!!!

OP posts:
clumsyduck · 26/02/2018 21:33

Well I hate my fine hair 😭😭 However I have other attributes and also there are people living with actual problems . Good old advertising playing on every tiny insecurity we may have , heaven forbid women aren't perfect

dantdmistedious · 26/02/2018 21:34

I just saw this and thought what the fuck?!

Paintbox · 26/02/2018 21:35

Yes it’s a uk advert. I can’t remember the product as I was too busy being pissed off. Yes plenty of women are fine with much much worse things happening to them than fine hair. Apart from being so ridiculous and blatantly critical of women with fine hair, it’s also very insulting. Like I am such tit that my hair rules my life and self esteem. I am not and it doesn’t. And goose, I love your statement that you have more hair than is strictly necessary Grin

I saw that ad. I was watching TV with DM, we both have fine hair. We agreed that wasn't on, to tell us our hair wasn't OK. We are perfectly happy with our lovely soft fine hair, thank you very much. Anyway, shampoo that's supposed to thicken fine hair only makes it look lank & greasy.

Peanutbuttercups21 · 26/02/2018 21:36

I am fine with my fine hair

It's soft and manageable

Paintbox · 26/02/2018 21:38

You’re right drama. Imagine the ads if they are going this way... no woman is ok with fat thighs, no woman is happy with thin lips, no woman is happy with grey hair, no man is ok with being bald...

OP posts:
ilovecardigans · 26/02/2018 21:39

Arsehole advert. I'd love to have fine, silky hair instead of the coarse, thick, kinky mess that sits atop my bonce.

I dread hairwash day. It's like going into battle... :-(

MrsElvis · 26/02/2018 21:41

It's L'Oréal who are dicks in general

HunsUnite · 26/02/2018 21:45

I'm fine with the fineness of my hair, it's the chip pan look after circa 20hrs that does my head in! It's even less if I wear it down.

BluebellGal · 26/02/2018 21:59

Shock Where can we complain?! No one chooses the type of hair they have and no amount of product will change the thickness of your hair. So to judge women’s attractiveness based on a natural attribute is in ver poor taste. They would not say that for a Male balding product. This is sexist and not ok!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 26/02/2018 22:15

Yes Blue the more I think about it the more cross I get, it’s saying that physical attribute is unacceptable, imagine the uproar if the Transform Clinic said in an advert no woman is happy with small breasts!

mergrey · 26/02/2018 22:17

I heard this yesterday and was outraged! How dare they tell women that they shouldn't be fine with fine hair? So surprised that this kind of thing has been ok'ed in 2018. Even my usually not arsed boyfriend was perplexed.

Paintbox · 26/02/2018 22:17

Exactly Betty! I will NOT be told that I can’t be fine with my hair, my face, my body. While I might like to change some aspects a little, I am happy that I can be fine with what I’ve got. I do not want my DD to be told that she cannot be fine with her beautiful 8 year old long v fine hair

OP posts:
OutyMcOutface · 26/02/2018 22:19

That's a very 1950's type of ad isn't it?

Paintbox · 26/02/2018 22:20

Yes, very old fashioned and so different to those dove adverts that show women with wrinkles and of different sizes. That’s a more modern approach to advertising beauty products

OP posts:
halfwitpicker · 27/02/2018 01:40

I have fine hair.

It's fine. And dark blonde. And relatively easy to manage.

Hmm bloody ad execs
