Does anyone do this?

Good results or waste of time?

Interested in the answer to this too, so following!

I have found in the past that it does help exfoliate the skin and leaves it nice and smooth, but not sure I've ever seen any lumpy/bumpy improvement.

Just wondered if anyone had done a before/after pic or seen a real improvement?

I do this and find it great for getting rid of bumps. There was also a program on recently that did a study of it as a way of beating cellulite out if the three methods used this cane out best.

rightknockered · 23/02/2018 10:12

I've been doing it for years, I do it for lymph drainage. I'm pretty sure it must work, an in my 40's and have no cellulite.

skippy67 · 23/02/2018 10:19

I've been doing it for years. Defo improves the appearance of my thighs. I tend to do it in the build up to a holiday, and notice the difference when I stop doing it in the colder months.

bettytaghetti · 23/02/2018 10:29

Whatever that program on C4 was a few weeks ago that looked at different price-point cosmetics & skin care, dry brushing came out as the most effective method for combatting the look of cellulite. Think the group doing it had to follow a particular method.
If I'm a bit more regular with brushing before shower and then moisturising after, I do notice an improvement, but I'm a lazy cow so it doesn't usually last long! Grin

I watched that BBC show too, the doctors on that segment said their hypothesis was that the brush was pushing fat back under the skin again ie it's when it pokes through gaps that you get that delightful lumpy effect.

So you must have to be pretty firm with the brush to do that. If it's not on iplayer I bet YouTube has it.

DavetheCat2001 · 23/02/2018 12:05

ah sounds interesting..was it on BBC or C4?

It was a cherry Healey documentary, can't remember the channel but she often works with the bbc. If you search her you should be able to track it down that way.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/02/2018 12:45

BBC.

DavetheCat2001 · 23/02/2018 13:03

Thanks..can't seem to find it anywhere Sad, says it is unavailable on the iPlayer.

Those that do it, how do you do it and which brush?

Doobigetta · 23/02/2018 13:35

It got rid of my mild cellulite. Brushed upwards, knee to hip, about a dozen strokes each side every day. I think it's better to get a softish brush and use it firmly than have a very hard brush you need to be gentle with.

skippy67 · 23/02/2018 13:45

I got my brush from the body shop.

Ruth Crilly / A Model Recommends has a great video on her blog, the post is years old (from 2010 I think!) but if you google “Ruth Crilly A Model Recommends body brushing “ it is the first result that comes up.

I bought the brush she recommended at the time and it’s still going strong! It is very stiff though so I don’t use on the more delicate skin on my torso, just on arms and legs.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/02/2018 08:04

I've watched the video, really good but that brush is £18+ Shock

I'll get the boots one instead.

MrsJamin · 24/02/2018 08:55

I bought this one from amazon a few weeks ago. My skin feels a bit smoother but no particular results yet - I guess its a bit too soon. Not very nice to stand naked in your bath for too long, it's a bit chilly! But I am persevering to see the results they got on the cherry healey programme.
