High street suggestions for a 30DD bra?

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 22/02/2018 16:29

I’m a 30DD and find it so difficult buying bras where I live. We have the basic high street stores with M&S and Debenhams. That’s it.

I did a huge trawl of Debenhams and M&S and didn’t find anything that fitted in either. There just wasn’t the choice. And I refuse to try on bras with boulder holder heavy duty straps when my boobs are more like satsumas than melons.

Where would you look in real shops?

The nearest John Lewis was pretty woeful last time I looked there. Just not enough options.
And I seem to be the wrong shape for Freya, which is often suggested on here.

Bra shopping online will end up in ordering £100s and returning the majority. Which I’m not really in a position to do.

So which real life shops are worth a visit for a good chance of finding a 30DD?

Unfortunately smaller back sizes are rarely stocked in real shops in my experience. I tend to order online from M&S or Mimi Holliday and then I can return if something doesn't fit, nothing winds me up more than going into town and not finding anything close to what I want.

silkpyjamasallday · 22/02/2018 16:39

Argh posted too soon, could you just order from M&S but only one or two bras which you can return to your local store?

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 22/02/2018 16:54

I could do that but chances are that if I order 2-3 it’d be a miracle if they all —any— fitted. Give my previous success rate with bra shopping.

It’s so hard to tell on the models where the cups will come up to on my body, I often have trouble with the top of the cup coming up past my arm pit iyswim. And then the straps are just too long.

Normal success rate for me in store is 1 in 10. —which is why I am way over due some new underwear—

Go to Bravissimo

flutterbean · 22/02/2018 16:58

If there is a Boux Avenue near you they stock smaller band sizes.

Strongbeatsskinny · 22/02/2018 17:04

Bravissimo is your best option they stock 28and 30 band size and they’ll give you dozens to try on. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Bue · 22/02/2018 17:09

Bravissimo has lots of good options in that size.

BubblesBuddy · 22/02/2018 17:09

Order Fantasie, Freya or Panache on line. Dd is a similar size and once you know what style and size just keep repeat purchasing . Saves a lot of angst.

TooMinty · 22/02/2018 17:10

Boux Avenue and possibly Princess TamTam, think the second is online only in this country though.

Justwaitingforaline · 22/02/2018 17:14

Same size as me, OP. All of mine come from Boux Avenue

VileyRose · 22/02/2018 17:15

I got mine in Debenhams x

I'm a 30DD and find Next 32D or C often fit well on the tightest hooks. I know that when they stretch they will probably become too big but because they are relatively cheap I don't mind replacing them more often and they have delicate straps and bands not over engineered for smaller breasts like many DD+ styles.

I also have the armpit issue - it's a right pain at times.

thedevilinablackdress · 22/02/2018 17:52

House of Fraser if you have one.

Maverick66 · 22/02/2018 18:15

FREYA there is no substitute.

ApplesTheHare · 22/02/2018 18:16

I'm the same size and only ever find bras in Debenhams or online. Can you ask your local branch to order some in?

PhilODox · 22/02/2018 18:17

Fantasie are great- they're in JL and bravissimo, or online.

Fairylea · 22/02/2018 19:32

Next have some in a 30 back. To be honest you might be best to just order online and send back ones that don’t fit. If you find a style you do like then chances are you’ll find it cheaper on eBay (lots of new ex catalogue stock on there).

Squirrelfruitandnutkin · 22/02/2018 20:42

Can any of you Boux Avenue fans tell me about the fit on their bras - I’m trying to avoid the cups coming too high up my armpit, which I’m guessing is a problem for lots of shorter/ petite people.

Mossbystrand · 22/02/2018 20:48

You're a similar size to me, I buy mine from Debenhams as I find they stock a few different brands. Try Freya, Bravissimo and Debenhams own brand online what you can't find in store.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 22/02/2018 21:28

Watching. I measure as 30DD according to the bra intervention method, but I have yet to find a DD bra in real life that isn’t far too wide in the underwire and shallow in the cup - like they think all boobs are the same width no matter what back size you are. I read about measuring using underwire sizes on a blog about making your own bras, but it said you had to be able to sew neatly in a curved line with tiny seam allowances and I fucked up hemming a too-long curtain, so that’s that.

Doobigetta · 22/02/2018 21:31

I'm 30DD and find that Calvin Klein 32Ds fit really well. House of Fraser and John Lewis do them.
