Can it be rescued?!

I made the mistake of washing my new dry clean only Whistles dress. I thought a viscose dress washed on 40 on a synthetic cycle wouldn't be too risky but it's shrunk and the lining is longer than the rest of it. Can it be rescued? Or will I need to cut the lining out and accept it's more of a mini dress?

You could try wetting it and stretching it. Look up you tube.

Thank you! I’ve given it a decent stretch but might rewet and stretch again. I’ll see if giving it an iron helps at all.

Make it very wet And don't spin it . Let it drip and pull itself down on a sunny windy day like today . You will need to keep an eye on it so it doesn't stretch too much or go out of shape .
If you are going to wash delicates in future use your delicate cycle and turn the heat and spin down etc . Clothes like this are rarely actually dirty so don't need much to freshen them up .

If it's exceptionally creased then iron it and take it to a dry cleaners . It will soften it up again .
I'm an ex dry cleaner and have fixed loads of stuff in the past .

Viscose does tighten up when washed and then relax again after a little wear. I think wetting & ganging is a sensible first option. Then try wearing around the house and see if it drops out.

With shrunken wool, soaking in a solution of tepid water and hair conditioner will help relax the fibres

Thanks so much everyone, it is relaxing a bit as it's drying but if it's still shorter than the lining I will go with sporty's approach and soak it and let it hang.

Thanks for the conditioner tip Aridane, like the bonus of it then smelling of three minute miracle!

If you have no sun and wind then a radiator and a fan work well with a towel to catch the water .
