Talk to me about eyelash extensions, pretty please?

Hey. I have never had these but have short and fine eyelashes so was thinking they might be a good idea.

  1. How long do they last?
  2. Is £30 a reasonable London price (not central London)?
  3. Do you end up with a false lash effect?
  4. Do they generally have different styles to choose from?
  5. How do they come off?
  6. Do you cleanse and go about your daily business as with your own lashes?

Merci!

Is that for individual or cluster? I wouldn't recommend cluster (party lashes)

For individual or Russian that's a good price, I pay more than that in the north.

how long they last depends on how well you take care of them/if you rub your eyes etc. Also I find if you have the really long length you want them in filling more as you notice the gaps iyswim.

the effect depends on the length you choose, I think they look better than natural but not as dramatic as falsies, although with heavy liner etc for a night our they look good. I find day to day I wear much less makeup with them on.

Cleanse as normal but with oil free products, fine to swim etc. Unless you want to be left with even less lashes I would get them taken off by whoever does them.

Hope that helps

A friend of mine had them on her top lashes, when they fell off, they took some of her natural lashes with them, leaving gaps.
I've never had them myself, so can't comment personally.

Thank you so much for the information. I literally haven't a clue, so thanks for that.

Have no idea what sort of lashes - literally saw a notice in a beautician's window advertising the price - I think the exact words were - "Eyelash extensions £30".
Definitely don't want 'party' lashes so will enquire.

I presume Micellar cleansing water would be ok for cleansing?

Makes sense I guess to get them removed and replaced by same practitioner.

How long do your lashes last generally? Are you talking a week or a month?

Christ - could do without ending up with less than I already have!

I usually get an 'infill' after about two weeks, just to fill in where they have shredded- but I am a bit of a fiddler so they should probably last longer. I have a set, two infills then removed.

But yes unless you get them taken off properly you can pull some of your own out.

butterry · 20/02/2018 10:25

£30 seems very cheap. I paid around £90-£100 for a full set and then the infills every 2 weeks to replace those missing was £30.

I have very thin fine lashes so I needed the lightest ones available as otherwise they were too heavy for my lashes and would twist and pull off my real lashes. You do need to be careful not to touch them but I always lost some when sleeping as they rubbed on the pillow.

There's a lot of upkeep if you want them to look nice and not damage your own lashes. Very expensive to commit to paying for infills.

Always have a skin test with the glue first as you definitely don't want an allergic reaction on your eyes!

£30 is very cheap, I would probably look elsewhere tbh.

I loved mine, but I really recommend going somewhere that specialises in lashes. The girl I went to first just did lashes, brows and nails and she did a great job, and they lasted a good 6 weeks, literally just coming out with my natural lashes. The next time I went I got them done at a spa, by a beautician who does waxing, facials, massage everything, and they were awful and were almost completely gone within two weeks. If you go to a lash specialist, they get much more practice doing lashes, so the results will be better.

I paid about 60 quid for mine I think.

I don't really wear make up day to day, so didn't do much cleansing around my eyes, but I think you do have to be careful they don't come out. They do look a bit silly when the last few are still hanging on, but you can always get them removed properly if you want, or get infills.

I didn't get any damage from mine at all, but I didn't fiddle with them much either.

I have had them a couple of times. To be honest I find them pretty annoying. I end up tugging on them as they itch me and it looks a bit odd when you’ve got just a few left. But I have found a new thing: LVL lashes. I’m so in love with this treatment that it is bolted into my beauty routine and I can’t stop evangelising about it. It is a tinting and perming treatment. I always thought my eyelashes were short, but actually they are just very straight. The curl and tint really opens up the eye. I’ve used eyelashes curlers and mascara nearly every day for 20 years and it is so lovely not to need to do that any more. I pay £45 a time and it lasts 8-10 weeks. I add mascara for a party look but day to day there’s no need.

troodiedoo · 20/02/2018 14:23

You get what you pay for with lashes. They look great, are addictive but are a bit of a faff. You have to fluff them regularly and try not to get them too wet.

I weaned myself off them and took a while for mine to grow back fully. Now use rapid lash which is amazing.

Sullabylullaby · 20/02/2018 14:32

Ok, well that is not an expense I'm prepared to take on. Also, didn't realised they were attached to your own lashes.

@peonylover22 I'm very interested in the LVL lashes. Sounds like an option.

I got the LVL lashes done yesterday. £25. She told me not to use water on them until tomorrow and then I can apply makeup etc. Alas, I do not have long lashes, so the result is not exactly awe-inducing in my case but I'm hoping with a good dollop of mascara lashed on, the perm end of it will help.
