What blushers do you recommend?

I'm far from photogenic at the best of times, but in some family photos taken last week I looked so pallid you'd have thought I was ill Sad. I don't routinely wear blusher as I'm afraid of looking clown-like, but I really think the time has come to add some colour to my cheeks before I'm mistaken for a ghost.

I am mid-40s and normally match an 'ivory' foundation in winter.

What blushers do people swear by? Budget probably £10 - £15.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

MUA from Superdrug, in shade Cupcake.

Fantastic, no glitter, blends beautifully, and only One Pound!

Bourjois rose coup de foudre is a decent dupe for benefit coralista

I love blusher. Eveyone looks fresher with a bit on. It's better to put a tiny bit on and build it up if you're worried about over doing it.

I like Bobbi Brown. (Going to check out the Dior one)

Just so you know, some foundations, concealers and powders cause flashback in photos. So you can look flat and starkly white on photos but fine in real life. I'm very pale white anyway but for a while photos made me think I must look like a white mask. It was just the flashback.

Coral - a pretty pink from Asda's George make up range. I have worn it everyday for the last two years - same pot! I love it.

The Nars one is meant to be good.

BobLoblawLawBlog · 17/02/2018 07:45

Dior rosy glow is absolutely amazing. I have mega pale skin and it looks mega natural and lasts all day. I know is pricey, but you need so little it lasts forever! And they sell it in boots so i often get it with advantage card points. Genuinely never found a blusher that comes close for colour, texture and staying power. (I personally find Nars orgasm too glittery and the Bourjois don't last well- they also are very hard to get pigment off in the pot as they go hard fast)

Elledorado · 17/02/2018 12:28

My mac blush is not at all powdery and has lasted ages. Also recommend clinique blushing blush in innocent peach, loads of colour pay-off and seems universally great reviews

I think blush is one of those products where spending money isn't that important.
So I have Bourjois Little Round Pots alongside MAC, Benefit, Nars etc.
If you want to start off with something subtle try Benefit Dandelion or MAC Well Dressed -both soft pinks.

FreeButtonBee · 17/02/2018 19:40

Benefit dandelion is a lovely pick me up for skin. Very very pale Matt pink. You can lash it on and you’ll never look silly. But makes you look alive. One of the few blushes I’ve ever repurchased as I’ve used it all up. About to get my third (in 8 years!)

That said, I’m tempted by the dior as I’ve heard good thing about it

Chanelprincess · 17/02/2018 19:50

Charlotte Tilbury - beach stick, Filmstar bronze and blush and Cheek to chic, Nars orgasm and sometimes Benefit dandelion as I have pale skin in Winter.

Ulysses · 17/02/2018 20:04

I use Dandelion as it’s very subtle. I’ve also started using Benefit’s Light Hula bronzer to give a bit of glow.

Planning to go into town tomorrow for an in-depth browse followed hopefully by purchase - I have lots of ideas now, so thank you very much to everyone who has taken time to give advice.

I also remembered today that I've got about £20 of points on my Boots Advantage card Grin so I could look at more expensive products in their selection, if I don't find a mid-price one that feels right. I take on board that a more expensive one might actually last much longer - I think I too often look at cost of item rather than cost per wear IYSWIM.

Thank you for the advice about colours and application as well. I'm feeling quite excited about this now! I will let you know how I get on.

Laura Gellar sell nice blusher

Frombothsidesnow · 17/02/2018 23:08

I am not a big make up wearer but I absolutely love my Nars South Beach (not Orgasm!). It's really subtle, easy to apply, and you can use it on eyes and lips too.

Another vote for benefit dandelion, suits everyone as you can layer on more if needed. Super flattering and stays put.
