Minimizing too strong cheekbones?

Hi all, I have strong features with a skinny face and very defined cheekbones.

When I was younger I used to get a lot of compliments for my high cheekbones. However, in the last few years I feel like they have become more and more evident and sharper and they are now making my face look haggard and severe.

Do you think it is possible to have too strong cheekbones? Is there anything I can do to minimize them (besides gaining weight I suppose)? Perhaps with make up or a certain haircut?

Please help! Thank you for your inputs Smile

Definitely no bronzer. I might try some blushesr (very lightly) in the hollows to balance out.

Heart almost like an "inverted contouring"?

Ha, yes Smile

I have prominent cheekbones too and anything approaching bronzer or contouring makes it worse. It sounds like a nice problem to have but it's not quite. Well it was nice in my youth but the cheekbones are kind of wasted on my middle-aged face, what with the hollows and the lines and the dark circles going on...

Blusher gives the impression of there being more fat stores there to blush, I guess. But getting the colour right is important. Also I use a very light hand, just a suggestion of blusher can be enough without it having to be obvious blusher.

I have the strong cheekbone/thin face issue and even at 30 I feel it makes me look older. I use blush on the apples of my cheeks sometimes but usually just a foundation base with nothing else on.

Are you underweight? A few extra pounds would be the most effective solution.

Ok I'll post a couple of pics to better explain what I mean. I hope I won't regret putting my face out there on Mumsnet Grin

Keep in mind that my cheekbones look a lot stronger in real life than in pics. Also, I was wearing quite a bit of make up in both pics, so I looked less haggard than usual.

A friend of mine suggested fillers to give more plumpness to the face. That sounds a bit extreme to me... Has anyone tried?

Wow! You look amazing! If I had your face I would never change it.

Fabala ahah thank you! I am wearing a lot of makeup on both pics though, unfortunately that is not the way I look most days Confused

You look great op, nothing to worry about

I think you look good, but see what you mean, I think a softer hairstyle would help beachy waves around the face and also they would soften your jaw so it's less a angular also more subtle make up, no make-up make-up, you have good eyes make them stand out more. Altogether a lighter palette would suit you
