Breast augmentation after breastfeeding.

Anyone had this done? Just finished 17 months pumping for twins which followed over two years breastfeeding DS. Happy it’s all over but the breasts are in such a state. I used to love them but now I just find them depressing. Anyone had theirs done? Implants or lift? All info welcome!

Yes I have, my only advice is make sure you are done having kids, had mine done end 2015, just had baby no 2 and need them done again already. They are sagging and not looking great. Not what you want when you've spent nearly £8k Confused

NemoMellie · 15/02/2018 05:32

I bf for a total of 4 years. My breasts were also a state post bf, however, a year on they 'filled in' /re-inflated and are looking more or less how they did pre bf.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 15/02/2018 06:14

Oh wow, Nemo, I didn’t know that was possible. Gives me hope! Do you mind if I ask if you gained weight generally? Is that rude? I hope not. Blush

Cb, did you go for implants or lift? Same cup size you were before?

Joining/bumping for you with interest.

I've always hated my breasts anyway. I'm tall and curvy (more fat atm after having DD...) and they used to be a 34G but are now a 34J. Even on my frame they're huge and ridiculous and I cannot stand them. They've always looked saggy even before breastfeeding and I'm only 21. Sad

Waiting until we've had our second (and last) child and then I'm getting a reduction and lift. Very expensive but they have destroyed my confidence for years and I think it'll change a lot for me.

Cb123456 · 15/02/2018 06:48

Implants and lift from b to FF hoping they perk up a bit as pregnancy again has done them no favours

RubberJohnny · 15/02/2018 07:30

I've got four kids. All bf. Last one was born eight years after my third. My boobs hadn't filled out much at all in that time. I was a d cup pre pregnancies. But an a cup after three and even smaller after number four stopped feeding. I had a tiny bit of breast tissue at the base of each breast but nothing under the nipple or further up, you could see ribs through my breasts. When I bent forwards it was like having two empty triangle teabags there.

I had a breast augmentation. Saw three surgeons. Only one recommended uplift. I went for one who recommended a natural look and eight years later I am still delighted absolutely delighted. I'm a 32ff / 34f depending on manufacturer. Sounds huge but it really isn't. It just fills the skin that was left really well. They haven't sagged at all.
Be picky in choosing the surgeon. I'd be happy to pass on details of mine by pm. And avoid Harley street groups and fly-by nights.

I'd do it again tomorrow

RubberJohnny · 15/02/2018 07:33

I didn't have an uplift - rereading above it isn't clear. I had 480cc ( from memory) anatomical ( teardrop) partial unders.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 15/02/2018 08:16

Wow, Rubber, that is great news! So glad you like them now. Honestly, I just want to cry when I look at mine. Also they’re uncomfortable and get in the way.

Red, you have my sympathy. I was a D and went to an E breastfeeding, and even then my shoulders hurt so much trying to support them. I can’t imagine what you’re dealing with.

I’m watching this thread as this is something I’m interested in. I’m not done with kids yet but after DS, my previously lovely boobs (I’ve akways had big full boobs) are sagging and empty. I’m planning on a breast augmentation after we’ve had another

littlepeas · 15/02/2018 09:23

I've bf 3 dc and had bigger than average boobs - because they were so big I didn't get that empty sort of look, but they did get even bigger and were heavy and quite saggy. I was a 32F pre dc and was a 30H (possibly even bigger) afterwards. I've just had (2 weeks ago) a reduction and lift! It's early days but I am so pleased! I think I will be a 32dd/30e in the end, but it takes a while for the final result to show. Obviously I've had quite a bit taken out as well, but the lift part is amazing - I would pass the pencil test!

My surgeon also does an option where they take your own breast tissue and redistribute it, so you get a sort of uplifted implant look but more natural - I didn't go for that as my aim was to look less booby, but it would work well for someone who doesn't necessarily want to lose volume, but wants to feel more perky.

Recovery has been harder than I expected (flew through 3 c sections, so expected to do the same) and I've been groggy from the GA and am still quite sore. Scarring looks like it will ultimately be very subtle. I am very glad I did it though - it has already made a huge difference to my confidence and how I hold myself, I look and feel a lot slimmer, overall it has been a very good decision. I went to Nuffield and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. I am in the Midlands and will happily recommend my surgeon (a fantastic, very talented woman) if you are local.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 15/02/2018 12:11

Hopeful bump!

Yes I did. Absolutely love them. I always wore a push up bra so only DH and I know that what is in there isn’t padding anymore!

I’m tall and now a 32e. Sounds big but right for my frame. I feel they have balanced out my figure.

I had round ones, though I was certain I would have teardrops going in to the consultation process. But I needed filling in the upper area more than lower so tearsrops just weren’t right. Also I had quite lopsided breasts so one implant is a shade larger than the other. They are dual plane meaning partially under/partially over for a more natural look.

I think they look natural, and I would do it again no hesitation. Only downside is a little numbness in the nipple area of the one that had the larger implant. This is improving over time, but slowly.

ForFiveMinutes · 15/02/2018 13:10

I had an uplift 2 days ago as they were like saggy old bags after bf 2 dcs. It’s early days but I know that if I took my bra off now they wouldn’t move, unlike before when they’d be swinging towards my waist! Can’t wait to be able to wear a plunging bra and not worry they’d sneak out and meet in the middle.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 16/02/2018 00:26

They all sound amazing! This is definitely food for thought. Thanks everyone!

Iwasjustabouttosaythat yes, I have gained weight. Pre DC I was a size 10. I am now a size 12. I'm tall, so can take the extra 'load'. Wearing a well fitting underwire bra has helped most of all to get them back into shape.

NemoMellie · 16/02/2018 23:14

P.S. I put that weight on - size 10 to 12 - evenly. I have an hourglass figure. Hope that helps you. I strongly feel that augmentation is not a sustainable long term option.

missadasmith · 17/02/2018 01:13

I bf both DC for 2.5 years (had only 3 months break before weaning DC1 and the arrival of DC2). When I weaned DC2, my breasts looked awful (I remember having a cry) but like a PP, went back to normal within less than a year. If you have only just stopped BF, I would give it some time.

missadasmith · 17/02/2018 01:14

2.5 years each, 5 years in total

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 17/02/2018 01:28

I will give it some time and see. I don’t really want to have surgery but it feels like the lesser of two evils. I just can’t stand them right now. It’s bad enough the stretch marks from a twins pregnancy go well above my belly button, the fold from a c-section etc, and this is the final nail in the coffin. It’s like from my shoulders up it’s me, but below that it’s just wrecked. I suppose a lot of women feel this way and I wonder how much it’s due to the ridiculous standards of beauty that society expects, and I do feel guilty for buying into that BUT I want my nice breasts back. Sad

OP posts:
TheCatsPaws · 17/02/2018 09:09

Just for a different perspective, mine haven’t gone back. I only bf for a few months and in combination with formula, and they’re wrecked.

So that’s also possible. I had big boobs before though, dunno if that matters.

ElphabaTheGreen · 17/02/2018 09:18

Can I please just say to anyone reading this thread - BREASTFEEDING DOES NOT WRECK YOUR BOOBS. Pregnancy does. It's pregnancy and the associated hormones that changes your breasts, not breastfeeding. It's a common misconception and an excuse some use for not breastfeeding, so please don't perpetuate the myth.

Iwasjustabouttosaythat · 17/02/2018 09:31

It would be good if a few people could come on here to verify that. I’ve heard both things and while I’m very pro breastfeeding, I don’t see how the long term yo-yoing associated with it would have no impact at all.

I’m here specifically to get advice about surgery on breasts from women who have a similar history to me. If that bothers you then go start another thread and stop trying to hijack this one.

Thanks Cats. Mine were D. They were so nice. 😭

I don’t think anyone is being negative about breastfeeding, just talking about the reality of breasts.

TheCatsPaws · 17/02/2018 09:34

Iwasjust had a lovely pair of 30Gs. Honestly, they were so nice. I’ve had five pregnancies though only one to term and they’re just completely different. Can not wait until I get them done tbh.
