Too dark for wedding?

I only really have summer suitable dresses for weddings (sleeveless and not at all warm). I recently bought this one for work and dh thinks it is suitable but I think it's too dark for a wedding next weekend. What do you think?

Too dark for wedding?

I think it's perfect , especially for this time of year

TheNavigator · 11/02/2018 08:40

I think it suits you very nicely, you have a lovely figure. I think with a black jacket/shrug/coat whatever it could look a bit dark, but with a lighter cover up (which I assume you will need at this time of year) it will look great.

LadyPenelope68 · 11/02/2018 08:42

It’s a lovely dress and you’ll look fabulous. I don’t get all the “it’s too dark for a wedding” rubbish. It’s outdated and ridiculous IMO. I don’t really ever wear very light coloured clothes, they just don’t suit me so I certainly wouldn’t wear something light just because it’s a wedding.

PaperdollCartoon · 11/02/2018 09:09

It’s a very nice dress and really suits you, but yes I think it’s too dark for a wedding, especially with black tights as well. You look like you’re going to work not out to celebrate something. I wouldn’t wear black to a wedding.

thedevilinablackdress · 11/02/2018 09:18

Finer denier tights (or coloured ones) and and a boxy jacket in an interesting fabric/colour will make it ace.

PinkAvocado · 11/02/2018 09:21

Perfect for a Feb wedding!

Frazzled2207 · 11/02/2018 10:23

For a winter wedding I think it's fine

Baileystruffle · 11/02/2018 14:41

Personally I wouldn't wear it for a wedding, I think its too dark and has a 'work' appearance. Is it possible to wear one of your summer dresses with tights, boots and a cardigan to 'winterify' it a bit? Maybe layer a top underneath the dress, depending on what style they are. You'll probably be indoors a lot of the time.

OutyMcOutface · 11/02/2018 14:43

Is it an evening wedding? It may be a bit dark during the day-maybe lighten it up with a jack/coat/shawl?

Fekko · 11/02/2018 14:43

It’s nice (where’s it from?). With nude tights and nice accessories it will be lovely.

DragonsAndCakes · 11/02/2018 14:46

I think you need to pick out the pale blue for accessories to make it wedding rather than non work.

SwedishEdith · 11/02/2018 17:38

I'd wear it. Lighter dresses look odd at this time of year.

BakedBeeeen · 11/02/2018 17:42

I would definitely wear it, it looks great on you! But to make it look more weddingy I would get a teal coloured fascinator, or like a PP said a little boxy jacket in a bright colour. And also no to black opaque tights.

peachypetite · 11/02/2018 17:43

What shoes are you planning to wear?

Movablefeast · 11/02/2018 17:47

With lighter tights snd a white or light pink fluffy jacket/shrug you could make it work. Jazz it up with nice hair and jewelry. If you're not one of the most essential guests, in other words will be one of the crowd I think it is fine.

Movablefeast · 11/02/2018 17:48

Like your floorboards Grin

icklekid · 11/02/2018 18:39

Thank you so much everyone. I think your right nude tights and some nice high heels. A lighter cardigan would make a big difference too so might have a look, I have a teal one that might work...

cindersrella · 11/02/2018 19:01

I think it's lovely!

Fekko · 11/02/2018 19:11

Bargain! Very flattering too.

MiniMaxi · 11/02/2018 19:14

Agree with pp's - nude tights, lighter colour cover up and maybe lighter colour shoes and you're sorted!
