Flaky sore itchy EYELIDS

Any tips? V sore. They seem swollen and there's a line of redness where the eyelid folds over itself iykwim. You can't really see it weirdly but it is SORE.

I suspect a eye makeup remover which I had taken to using. It was new to regime and has now been banished! No improvement though, am just at a loss at what I can do to speed up healing?

It's not blepharitis, have had that. A v distinct line of soreness across each eyelid.

Did I mention it is sore???!!

Help!

I've been to the opticians this week for the very same thing and they said it was Blepharitis. I bought some solution from Boots called Blephasol which is just used to clean your eyes on cotton pads. It's helping.

omg so much advice!!!! and all so different Grin

Am still clueless and yes, should probably go to the doctor.

I'll probably give it a week with some of the suggestions and then go if there's no improvement.

The nyx sticks are quite sticky so wouldn't surprise me if it was that.

So in summary suggestions are....

hydro-cortisone (controversial)
Vaseline (controversial also)
Palpebral (Laboratoires SVR) & Rheacalm Eyes (A-Derma Pierre Fabre) (not that feasible as am in Ireland)
Aveeno handcream
Weleda skinfood (controversial)
Shea butter
Olive Oil
Sweet almond oil
Eurax HC
Body Shop aloe vera cream
Paw Paw ointment
Cut out dairy (eek!)
Squalane oil
Blephasol (but I really don't think it's blepharitis!)
Protopic (is that prescription only?)

Thanks everyone. Will ponder... or just go to a bloody GP

The probiotic is IN the aloe Vera body shop eye cream!

PP, bear in mind that if it is lichen simplex only a prescription ointment will work. The other creams I told you about are just 'preventive'. I had this for months and tried all sort of creams and oils, no improvement at all, and a few creams and oils were really bad for it. I had to go to the dermatologist during a holiday because my eyelids were swollen, flaky and purple, monster-like. I had tried most of the oils recommended in previous posts, some creams, etc.
Do not waste time and try to get a referral to a dermatologist. I think I went to all the pharmacies in Central London and either they could not recommend anything or what they recommended was useless.
And do not use any blepharitis remedies, cream or foam. They are the worst thing for your eyelids if what you have is lichen or any other similar condition. A blepharitis foam nearly burnt the sore skin of my eyelids. I had that pain and burnt feeling for weeks.
Once it has improved, try the floral eye make-up remover by Klorane (the blue bottle), the eight wonder of the world (for sensitive eyes).

OP, no PP...

My daughter had this problem , she was told to wash her eyes with baby shampoo?

DuncanDonut · 07/02/2018 22:23

I had this a while ago too - I'm pretty sure Garner miceller water set it off. It cleared up on its own when I just left it alone and didn't use any products.
Other miceller waters have been fine.

Thanks all. Me and and my eyelids really appreciate it. Smile

I occasionally get this and take anti-histamines until it's gone - I usually get the generic Clarityn from Boots. Think it's called Loratidine. I use Trilogy eye cream on the sore areas (I also get sore where my eyes water out of the sides when asleep). Good luck!
