Trousers/Jeans always falling down!

Please help! I am 5' 8", slightly overweight, have good legs, no hips or bottom but a larger than ideal tummy! Whichever make of trousers or jeans I buy, if I can do them up to accommodate tummy, they are usually too big on the hips and I spend all my time hitching them up! Can anybody suggest a make which might fit my type of body shape before I waste any more money? Thanks!

I have the same problem Sad

I find the New Look high waisted Yazmin jeans work well. As do some of the high waisted stretch Levi’s. Uniqlo high waisted legging trousers also stay up well but you need to really size up to accommodate the tummy.

Leggings and tunic tops are comfy but can’t find any tunic tops at the moment Confused

Out of interest... do you consume ‘fake’ sugar eg Diet Coke?

FloralSocks · 03/02/2018 11:59

I did used to find a stretchy belt worked well but since I’ve had a baby my tummy is even more out of proportion with the rest of me and a belt just makes it look worse and it doesn’t hold my jeans up Sad

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 03/02/2018 12:05

No, don't drink Diet Coke or any fizzy drinks at all. Probably consume a bit too much wine though which might be partly responsible! Thanks for the tips - will have a look next week.

I'm the same shape, looks good from the front, then I turn sideways....

Try Oasis Lily high waisted jeans. I think the key is to have something that comes up over the belly to squish it in.

LoniceraJaponica · 03/02/2018 12:27

Don't dismiss the idea, but what about men's jeans?

I have the opposite problem with a small waist relative to my hips, so I do understand the frustration of getting jeans to fit properly. I tend to buy jeggings these days.

onetwothreefour5 · 03/02/2018 14:14

Hang on...What's drinking Diet Coke got to do with jeans falling down!!

SpiritedLondon · 03/02/2018 14:40

Why don't you get them tailored? I'm hourglass shape and have previously struggled to get jeans to fit on the waist. Re covering the tum I think you probably need higher waist trousers with a skimming top or shape wear knickers underneath.

thefutureisours · 03/02/2018 14:41

I find Sainsbury jeans great.

IPokeBadgers · 03/02/2018 14:49

I have the same problem, big tummy and no hips/arse to speak of.....I have to wear jeans with a belt at all times. Haven't worn fitted waist trousers for years....all work trousers are high in stretch!

Floralsocks why do you ask about fake sugar/ diet coke? (I have a bad DC habit)

BeyondThePage · 03/02/2018 14:56

Same barrel shape - just bought some new jeans from M+S - their new "curve" range - put them on and went and bought 3 more pairs!

Shhhhh - don't tell anyone... Wink or they'll sell out just like their high rise straight fit ones! Sad

itsbetterthanabox · 03/02/2018 14:56

What size are you?
Evans start at a 14. They do jeans and trousers that are cut to fit body shapes. The apple ones would be good for you.
I'm very pear and their pear fit jeans and the best fitting trousers I can get.

IPokeBadgers · 03/02/2018 15:12

Any time I've been in evans I have only seen the pear fit.....I don't know if that means they don't carry much apple fit stock or that Apple fit sells out quickly.

Beyond can I ask what size you bought in the m&s curve jeans please? What size range does the curve range start at?

FloralSocks · 03/02/2018 15:27

I was asking about the Diet Coke as I have a bad Diet Coke habit, and I’ve heard that aspartame has been linked to weight gain around the tummy area. No idea if it’s true but my friends with bad DC habits do have podgey tummies

FloralSocks · 03/02/2018 15:29

I’m a 14. Evans have pear shaped jeans on their website but i searched and can’t find any apple shaped ones

LoniceraJaponica · 03/02/2018 15:31

I find that M and S tend to cater more for apples than pears. All their pencil skirts have massive waists and never fit me.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 03/02/2018 15:37

I am a 14 so will definitely have a look at the M&S and Evans ones. Had not heard of the Curve range before. I think probably high rise is the way to go and have ordered the belt recommended above!

My M+S curve size is a size 18... normally a size 20, but these have a bit of stretch (not skinny fit or anything, just a bit more "give")

oops - sorry, noticed you are a 14, curve only goes down to 18 - I think they have finally designed something for lager ladies rather than simply "upscaling"

BeyondThePage · 03/02/2018 15:43

larger - not lager!!! though that may speak of the causes....

ReluctantlyRedundant101 · 03/02/2018 19:25

Same problem as me!
I like the high waisted skinny from m&s less than £20 and come in loads of colours

hugoagogo · 03/02/2018 19:41

Primark jeans might be good for you.
Would braces be a step to far?
