I need an overhaul post children... I usually go to Fat Face and Joules but also like Crew Clothing. I need a change and to feel not mumsy....where do you suggest?

I have a 2 yr old and a 3 month old. Oasis and Mint Velvet are my go to shops

youngnomore · 02/02/2018 22:50

Zara.
Cos
H&M

Callamia · 02/02/2018 22:52

I have a 4yr old and a baby.
I like J Crew, Uniqlo, Cos and newly Arket (and Gap for plain basics).

Frankiewears · 02/02/2018 23:10

The White Company- jumpers, maxi dresses and tunics.
Pure Collection- cashmere
Next- jeans and signature shoes. Petite coats too
Jigsaw- jumpers and shoes
Phase Eight- jumpers
Mint Velvet - only shoes

CakeNinja · 03/02/2018 01:56

ASOS
Boden (for practical work stuff)
Ted Baker
LK Bennett (for special occasion dresses and accessories)
Dune, Office and Kurt Geiger for shoes.

All done online as quickly as impulsively as possible as I hate shopping and never end up buying anything. If it gets delivered to my door, I’m more inclined to just shove it in and go out the door, I don’t have a mirror in my bedroom so don’t really see myself often 😂 I’m clean and presentable during the week, that’ll do me fine!!

AdidasGirl · 03/02/2018 02:23

The shops are rubbish here where I live so everything is online.
The two places I buy from most of all are from one extreme to the other re pricing.
Flannels and Asos.

Pistachiois50pmore · 03/02/2018 06:39

I go go COS, & Other Stories, Uniqlo, Monki (am over 30 so just the plain coloured things, not the transparent skirts covered in avocado emojis), Whistles in the sale, and occasionally for a treat Net a Porter and Matches sale for cheap APC, Acne Studios, Comme des Garcons, Isabel Marant, Marni bits. Nikelab or Adidas for trainers. And some vintage but less and less these days now I have a kid.

What do you do? Are you a SAHM or do you work? If so, what is your dress code at work? Those will all affect what you wear because you need clothes that fit in your lifestyle. No point suggesting LB Bennett shoes and Hobbs dresses if your life is more Ambridge than Chicago Law Office.

Have a look at some blogs to get ideas, I read a few over 40 blogs and although they are basically a form of advertising it is interesting to see how the trends get interpreted by 'real' women. Although a word of warning, lots of the bigger bloggers are full time bloggers with the 'influencer' lifestyle that involves lots of 'gifted' clothing, paid for holidays etc that removes them from real life. Enbrogue is great for cool flat shoes with an emphasis on trainers.

Having said that I'd say definitely avoid the famously 'Mumsy' brands like White Stuff, Joules and Fat Face. Boden is usually included in there but if you avoid the garish patterns then they do make good quality basics that are great for a smart casual workplace. I like COS, Uniqlo, M&S (carefully avoiding the polyester), Gap (don't buy unless you are getting 40% off), Boden.

Zippyboo2 · 03/02/2018 16:07

Thanks for your suggestions. I will work my way through. It will all be internet shopping as we don't have good shops around here.

CountFosco I'm a SAHM mostly.

Dorothy Perkins & New Look (10% off for NHS workers like me); or if I do have more money I like River Island & Jack Wills.

I'm 41, not a Mum unfortunately.

I spend my working life in a uniform so I like fashionable clothes that fit my figure out of work.

PNGirl · 03/02/2018 18:07

Not yet a mum, work full time in a creative company with no dress code.

Trainers are a mixture - I own Vans, Nike, New Balance, Adidas and Converse. Boots and ankle boots mainly Dr Martens and Duo Boots. Plain basics, Uniqlo. Jeans from GAP, Levis, Sainsbury's. Leather jackets, AllSaints. My jumpers are Celtic and Co, Finisterre, or hand knitted by my mum!

holycityzoo · 03/02/2018 19:56

barefoofdoctor · 03/02/2018 21:22

Brandalley. Pure. Warehouse. Whistles. Jaeger. TKMaxx. Hobbs. LK Bennett. M&S for cashmere and Rosie for Autograph undies.

HildaZelda · 04/02/2018 12:15

Primark - tops, underwear, pyjamas, fake Converse
River Island - tops, heels, jeans, (Amelie & Molly)
H&M - tops, dresses, but size can be all over the place
Zara - coats, tops,

Various sports shops for gym gear and trainers, but Primark can be good for sports gear too.
I'm a size 3/4 in shoes so can get away with buying kids trainers. Miles cheaper.

stoplickingthetelly · 04/02/2018 12:54

I don't have the budget for lots of the more expensive brands you hear so much about on here. I tend to go for next, dorothy perkins, h&m, then a bit of warehouse and Oasis too. I'm 36 with dc aged 2 & 5. Work part time as a teacher.
