Will this tone down brassiness?

Had ombre done at hairdressers & because my hair had colour build up, a blonde shade couldn't be achieved in one session so it's a more gradual process, aiming for a light caramel colour.

It's actually not too bad. Just a touch brassy, which was as expected, a toner was applied. But I suppose that'll wash out? However, I'd still like to neutrilise the slight brassy tones & was wondering is this will do the trick? Can it been used on bleached/highlighted hair I wonder? Or will it turn my hair green/blue?!!!

It doesn't lighten per se - it just takes the yellow brassiness out of blonde hair.

Ok so I've tried the Fanola shampoo this morning and it hasn't worked, in fact I think it's enhanced the orangey tones in my hair making it appear more ginger!!! Strange. Oh well worth a try. I applied it to dry hair, left for 15 mins, washed with it, left for 2 mins rinsed out, conditioned.

I've taken some pics on my phone - it doesn't show up as bad on the photos on my mobile but when I'm drying my hair in the bedroom looking in the mirror with the natural daylight behind, it really does look ginger/yellow now. I'm fed up, it's gone quite dry as well. Should I just leave it or do I need to put a light ash blonde colour on it? As the purple shampoos are obviously not touching it. Or, just wait it out a of couple months until I go back to the salon for another session to take it lighter?

I'm sorry you've had that experience - I was expecting you to come back and post about how amazing it was!

It can be a bit drying - Amazon reviews comment on this - but a good conditioner will sort it.

I'm not sure you're supposed to apply it to dry hair. I think the instruction say to wash hair with it and leave for 3 - 5 mins before rinsing?

I wouldn't apply any further colours on it yourself. Maybe go back to the salon and ask their advice about what's best to do until you have your next appointment?

Ive never applied a purple shampoo to dry hair before.

I think the process of becoming blonde is a slow and expensive one.

I applied it to dry hair because I saw a few you tube videos where the girls on there had similar colour hair to mine & they applied it to dry hair & it came out great.

I may give it another go in the shower - my hands look like Beast from X-Men! I'm just a bit perplexed as to why I'm seeing it enhancing the orangey/yellow tones, resulting in a gingery look when it's supposed to do the opposite!

My roots need seeing to as well & I just can't be arsed, my hair looks so shit at the moment & im only just getting over a bout of Aussie Flu!

All those conditioners can only work on hair which was originally ashy/very light.
It sounds like you are in the same situation I was in, your hair has naturally warm undertones so it's unavoidable to have those warm shades when bleached. The only way to solve it is to keep going with the balayages, getting it bleached again every time until it gradually gets light enough to put a cooler blond colour on top.

For getting rid of orange in brown hair that’s been lightened you need a blue shampoo, purple shampoo is for neutralising yellow tones as they work on opposite colours.
Matrix, joico and aveda all do blue shampoos & conditioners.
