Help me to stop looking a mess on a budget!

After 2 close together pregnancies I'm a mess at the moment Blush
All my makeup is over a year old other than a very cheap foundation from boots, I don't have any jeans that properly fit (they're all either baggy around the bum or legs even though they fit around my waist)
And my hairs a dry frizzy mess!

My skin is fairly dry and a bit naturally red-ish in areas.
What are peoples recommendations for -

  1. foundation
  2. General subtle eye/lip makeup
  3. Shampoo/conditioner/hair products
  4. Skinny jeans that keep their shape

Ooh what sort of budget?

I'm generally no good at these types of threads as I'm quite rigid in some ways about what I use!

Have you got any coconut oil in that you could work a small amount into the ends of your hair tonight and wash out in the morning?

A lot of people on here have recommended cleansing with superdrug cloth cleanser, which would be a good price.

What have you got make-up wise? Any lippy?

whyhastherumgone · 31/01/2018 21:30

I swear by double wear and double wear light foundations - by Elizabeth Arden. I too have redness in my skin and it's the only thing that gives even natural coverage.
It's not cheap but if you head to one of the counters and get colour matched and say you aren't sure and could you have a sample to try for a week they will fill a little pot for you so that will be a stop gap to see if you like it or not.

Also one thing to get is a good face oil - almond or rosehip are fab for dry skin and you can pick them up cheaply on amazon, just check the reviews first.

Sainsburys jeans are brilliant.

thefutureisours · 31/01/2018 21:40

Alberto Balsam shampoo and conditioner

If you have 40 quid for the jeans Topshop Jamie are brilliant. If not, I second Sainsbury's jeans. I have a brilliant black pair that were £12.

I'm not really of the opinion that haircare brand necessarily matters as much as your styling tools do, but I have had good results from Herbal Essences Hello Hydration.

BulletFox · 31/01/2018 21:54

Would second a nice facial oil.

I googled the superdrug cleanser, it's the natural radiance hot cloth cleanser, is budget friendly, and has good reviews.

What colour lipstick suits you? And eyeliner?

namechangedtoday15 · 31/01/2018 22:02

OP, I second the recommendation for Estee Lauder Double Wear Light (they're not Elizabeth Arden). The original DW is too much (for me), coverage way too heavy, but DW light is great. I have also been using the No 7 Beautiful Skin hot cloth cleanser since Christmas with the Protect & Perfect Serum and my skin is much, much better (have mild rosacea).

Skinny jeans - I swear by Next Skinny jeans. They really suit my shape and last well.

Hair care- I like Phil Smith products.

whyhastherumgone · 31/01/2018 22:23

Thank you @namechangedtoday15 I ALWAYS get them mixed up!!

Bourjois City Radiance foundation is light reflecting and only £10

cornishmumtobe · 01/02/2018 07:42

I've been using the Your Good Skin range from boots - serums, creams, face soap etc. My skin is much nicer and redness has decreased a bit. For foundation I like the No 7 lift and luminate - it gets rid of the final bit of redness for me and leaves my skin nice and dewy. A bit of loose powder over the top sets the foundation and sorts those areas that may be slightly too shiny.

I wear Sainsburys jeggings. I saw people on here recommending them and didn't believe them.

I've now got 6 pairs.

Commuterface · 01/02/2018 09:01

Another vote for Sainsburys Jeggings. They really are brilliant and super comfortable. I've got black and indigo. They're really cheap too .

Love Sainsbury's jeans. They really keep their shape and are good value, plus come in different lengths
