Hello fresh graduate here with important interview soon. Interview is with very very traditional suit and tie style company, I’m used to casual roles and feel a bit awkward in trouser suits. I have fallen in love with this offering from warehouse. Do you think it can be styled in a way that looks more professional? If so how? If not any suggestions for similar styles.
For context: height 5 ft 7 dress size: 6

Black tights and heels. Simple black or white top/blouse without the too long sleeves would probably be okay.

I'd check the skirt length though, you probably want to avoid anything too short for an interview.

Heratnumber7 · 31/01/2018 21:53

Skirt is too short. But you're on the right lines.

Byebyebicycle · 31/01/2018 21:54

Thanks for the replies, I will pop in tomorrow and see what the length is like in person but being rather tall I don’t hold high hopes

Oh as a side note, You don’t think the stripes are too ‘out there’ for a formal setting?

I worked in recruitment for 10 years and the dress is far too short. Just above the knee is absolutely the shortest length acceptable. How about a pencil skirt with a high waist and tucked in crisp shirt or blouse, and a fitted jacket?

Byebyebicycle · 31/01/2018 22:01

Thanks dontdillydally, I think thats what I needed to hear to drag myself away. Will look at something more I know will be suitable, Thanks guys for the head wobble!

Whilst probably not right for an interview it might well be acceptable 'office wear' if you get the job. It would be in my office in London.

Bostin · 31/01/2018 22:16

I think you need to wear a more traditional and conservative suit for an interview at the company You describe.

Byebyebicycle · 31/01/2018 22:19

@themogget so nervous hadn’t thought past the interview stage but you’re right (thanks for enabling me Grin), and if not appropriate for the office I guess worn separately they could be dressed down casual for day to day wear. (So obviously trying to justify this spend Blush)
