For those with fine, straight hair, help please, what's your hair like?

I've booked an appointment at a salon in London with good reviews (not Lydia Keen) Wink later this week. I have spent the last 18 months growing out a bob for my wedding which was the end of last year. It's now collarbone length, split and sooo straggly. I want it cut but not too short since I find this creates more maintenance. Has anyone found a stylish cut that works for this hair type?

I have fine, poker straight hair (though lots of it, apparently). I wear it in a convex bob, with the front finishing at my jaw, and shaped tight into my neck. It's a style that suits my hair type, my face shape (important!) and my lifestyle. I don't have time, or the inclination to spend hours styling, and I can just wash and go (though it looks great after a blow-dry!).

I have thin not brilliant condition hair. It’s the bane of my life.

I have it in a longish bog with a long fringe with dark roots going into some outgrowing highlights. Sort of ombré. But not very noticeable. I wear it straight, but if it’s raining it goes wavy/fluffy.

Mine's silver grey, straight and cut in a chin length bob. It's so well cut I don't even need to blow dry it under, it falls that way beautifully.
If I ruffle it up with some mousse it still looks great!

Do you have quite blunt ends?

Mine is just below my shoulders, and has a few layers cut in. Not entirely stylish, but it looks presentable as I have a lot of hair although it's fine. Happy new hair!

Yes, blunt ends, same level all round but slightly undercut at the back.
Only needs trimming every 7/8 weeks.

Yes, very blunt ends for me too. I have mine cut every 6 weeks, 7 at a push. It's in reasonably good condition so looks pretty good. Keeping it short(ish), tidy and presentable is one less thing to worry about!

I'm getting ready to go, nervous!!

Very blunt ends for me. If they cut layers in my hair is so fine it ends up see through! Best for me with very fine hair is concave bob with the back quite short front down to jaw. No layers past the front of my ears! Long sweeping to the side fringe. Good luck!

My hair is really fine - i hate it - if i put it in a ponytail it is tiny - looks naff at all times.

Beware of hairdressers telling you to put layers in for body - as far as my experience goes - cutting loads of hair away does not do anything to make the hair fuller.

Blunt ends all the way - i find if i use a round brush to dry the ends under it gives it a bit more body and looks a little fuller.

Does your hair lie flat or fluffy?
Mine tends to lie really flat if it's longer than shoulder length.
At the mo I have a choppy inverted bob and use loads of Aveda thickening tonic. It's the best thing I've found for texture and volume.
