Nothing healthy about a sunbed

Wolfiefan · 28/01/2018 19:54

Sun beds are awful for your skin.
A spray tan won't give any sun protection obviously but is a less toxic way to get colour.

MuseumOfCurry · 28/01/2018 19:54

Spray! Quite good these days.

Plumes · 28/01/2018 19:54

Personally I'd embrace the pale but of your two options I'd definitely gor for the spray tan.

Sunbeds are awful things. I see a lot of women with skin like leather from hitting the sunbeds hard. It's so ageing but more importantly they can cause cancer.

scampiesandchips · 28/01/2018 20:01

I can't believe there are still people who use or consider using sunbeds. The mind boggles.

robertaplumkin · 28/01/2018 20:09

just watch that cherry healey thing on iplayer you will never want a tan again Confused

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/01/2018 20:46

Spray tan obv.

LoniceraJaponica · 28/01/2018 20:54

I'm surprised that sunbeds are still legal TBH.

Paintbox · 28/01/2018 21:34

I know Lonicera. My 7 year old dd asked me today what a sunbed shop was when we went past one and explaining it just felt ridiculous. It’s a shop for people who really really want to be brown so much that they stand under a light that makes them brown. But it’s really bad for your skin, makes you age faster and can give you skin cancer which you can die from. Crazy.

Spray tan! I love a tan but there is no way I would ever use sun beds. Personally I prefer doing a fake tan myself (not really had a fantastic spray tan) and would do it for two nights before a holiday (I'm pretty flexible so can do my entire body lol). Id probably use fake bake beyond bronze range if I wanted it to look really nice and natural. Sun cream does mean it doesn't last as long annoyingly but it normally last around the duration of a week holiday, and bearing in mind you may pick up a natural tan too! Also don't be too rough drying yourself when you get out of the shower as that just rubs the tan off - I would say dab rather than rub!

LostInShoebiz · 29/01/2018 07:35

Sun beds are almost going the way of drink driving, aren't they? There is such a stigma that even if I felt the desire to use one, it would be kept deadly secret. Deadly being the operative word there.

There are three products that are legal and dangerous when used according to the instructions. Cigarettes, sunbeds and socket covers.

latara23 · 29/01/2018 19:36

I cared for a 37 yr old with terminal cancer from a melanoma.

Also my sisters 30 something friend is covered in unsightly & possibly dangerous moles as well as having a lined face thanks to too many sunbeds.

I would say either a spray tan or go pale, it's quite fashionable to be paler anyway.

I'd wear a high factor spf abroad, you may get a nice natural tan.
I usually wear factor 25 - 30 on my body & factor 30 on my face & reapply often yet I get a tan as I go in the sea a lot.
