Which conditioner for no poo?

After reading about using conditioner in place of shampoo on here I gave it a go this week. I was pleasantly impressed. Hair not greasy and maybe a bit less dry (I have extremely coarse and frizzy hair). Just wondering though can I use any conditioner to wash with or should I be using a certain type? And are there other things I should know?

Do you mean you leave quite a lot of conditioner in @DunkandEGG? I'm gradually leaving more & more in!

Yes.
My hair is extremely porous. I use mixed chicks leave in conditioner cream. It's light and has great slip. If I apply it the usual way on towel dried hair the results are never the same.

I use Childs Farm Conditioner for wash, followed by Cantu Curl activator (which was to heavy when I first started no poo, but now works great) on sopping wet hair.

I tip I heard and which has worked for me is that your hair should feel like seaweed. I have to be careful about leaving too much product on, but my hair always turns out better when it's a bit slippy before drying.

I went from mostly frizzy with a few waves to well defined ringlets in a few months. I have to refresh everyday as it frizzes up in bed but hair is 80% better than it used to be.

A couple of weeks later and it's all gone a bit Pete Tong 😖.

My hair is FAR dryer and frizzier than it was before going no poo. Oh and my fringe is going greasy within 24 hours of co-washing. I've never had greasy hair in my life.

All my hair oils have silicone in them. Coconut oil doesn't work for me. I've spent a small fortune on silicone free products and just feel like going back to regular shampoo and silicone-laden conditioners right now. I swear my hair looked infinitely better.

Is this a normal adjustment period thing?

Or is my hair just not suited to this method?

Gah 😭.

I use Faith in Nature from Oxfam/ health food shops. My hair used to look like a Brillo pad. It's better now, but not perfect,it's still dryish. I am quite convinced that silicones were making it worse.
