I work in Medical Sciences; people do not really wear proper work/business clothes unless you are a speaker.
I tend to use just a smartened-up version of what I wear for work every day, but I am running out of ideas could you share yours?

I tend to wear a blazer with smart skinny jeans or slim-cut trousers and ankle boots, or a semi-structured dress. Always something with pockets, so I can whip out a card without rummaging through my bag.

I find dressing for conferences something of a minefield myself. I don’t want to look too corporate (like I’m trying to sell something), too casual (like a student), or too cutesy/ girly (stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the men). This rules out most of my wardrobe!

I wear smart dresses from places like next, or lindybop (plain black dress, not too big a skirt), or m and sb or trousers vest and shirt. Vest needed because of my big boobs. If i feel a dress is a bit revealing (shoulders/cleavage) i have a 3/4 length top underneath, or a vest, or a cardi. Mind you if i feel lile showing a bit of personality i have a leopard print shirt dress from next that i adore. I look for interesting prints on shirts so I'm not looking too conservative.

I've tended to try and wear more noticeable clothes at conferences. They tend to be for networking so being noticed and memorable works in my favour I think. I often wear quite distinctive blazers with trousers or a dress. That or a bright pair of shoes or jewellery. Something to act as a bit of an ice breaker

IamAporcupine · 27/01/2018 21:41

that's interesting SunnyL thanks!

If you have to wear a name tag, choose something that means you don't end with your name at nipple height. Or is that just me ?

traviata · 27/01/2018 22:44

yes, IKWYM. I have had the experience many times when colleagues are trying to read my name label without appearing to be staring at my boobs.

always, always pin at collar bone height.
