Coping with stairs in heels

mariehoskins · 27/01/2018 12:24

This has happened to me a few times recently but yesterday had a particularly unpleasant incident.

Basically was walking down the stairs in the office in heels and carrying a tray of hot drinks and lost my footing!! Very embarrassing.

Just wondering if anyone has any coping ideas please?

I think I'd be switching to flats, not worth the risk. The health and safety officer would be looking into it too, it doesn't sound as though heels are very suitable for your workplace.

Wear fit for purpose shoes. Like men do.

I would swap to flats, or a small heel or chunkier ones

Stairs, heels, a tray of hot drinks

Pick any combination of two of these. All three at the same time is an accident waiting to happen. One of them has to go.

My office is up 3 flights of stairs
I wear flats for this reason

I would stop wearing heels if stairs are a regular part of your day.

Just wear shoes you can walk safely in!

Oh dear Marie, I hope you were OK and didn't get scalded!

I fell down a flight off stairs at a work Christmas party in my highest heels (no drinks had been consumed). Put me off them completely as I was so confident in them beforehand, but this time I fell like a house of cards

The only thing I’d suggest is to always use the bannister

Agree, always good to have something to hold onto, not so easier if you are carrying something in 2 hands, a box (boxes) of files for example
