my sister has chosen me a bridesmaid dress and I have a problem...

it is a nice dress - quite simple, bright pink and floaty. Tried to find a pic but I can't - anyway my problem is that is shows my hideous bingo wing upper arms - thay are really are horrible - I never wear sleeveless but i have no choice this time. So I have three months - is this enough time to tone my flabby uppers arms?

If so what exercises do I do?

Wear a shawl?

cece · 28/04/2007 16:56

TBH I think it is a bit unfair of your sis to chose something you are not happy with.

I let my adult bridesmaids have a say in what they wore.

twinsetandpearls · 28/04/2007 17:00

I let mine have a say too, think it is rude not too especially if they are adults.

pointydog · 28/04/2007 17:04

o god, I'd be mad if I had to wear sleeveless.

Can you look for a really glamorous bolero/shrug type thing to wear on top? Check wedding shops who might be able to dye one to match dress.

Or speak to your gym.

Dimpled · 28/04/2007 17:12

ah ponity that would involve me 'having' a gym - had to relinquish memebership due to the high level of guilt incurred through lack of attendance!

Was wondering if anyone knew any exercises to target that area of if there is no hope!

Am a bit pissed off but she is so stressed re the whole wedding I thought I would go along with it otherwise she might actually go insane!

Should I do scrubs and fake tan???

look here you could get some chiffon and wrap it round you or if you go back a page there are different fabrics and colours - you could get same colour or a CREAM to co ordinate

rabbleraiser · 28/04/2007 17:16

Ooooooooooh, Dimpled, you've got my sympathy . I'm pretty slim tbh, but I've always had big bulges of fat at my armpits, and sleeveless numbers are a huge no-go for me.

Exercises for that area? I haven't come across any yet. Is this a fait acomplis, (or however the feck you spell it), or could you negotiate a swift change of heart? I'm sure the other bridesmaids won't be that chuffed either.

RTKangaMummy · 28/04/2007 17:17

if you click on the coloured boxes it changes the big picture colour

there are more colours if you click under the colours

Cappuccino · 28/04/2007 17:19

I just googled 'toning upper arms exercises' and there are loads of links

get going

I'm sure you have enough time with 3 months if you stick at it, and it will give you pretty arms for later that you will be able to show off at other times

pointydog · 28/04/2007 17:23

nice idea, kanga.

Hm, dimpled, I am meant to be joining the gym very soon. I understand your lack of commitment.

Dimpled · 28/04/2007 17:30

thsnaks everyone - thanks kanga - that is a great site - good idea baout the covering up side - would like to try and tone up a bit too but the amount of - um - overhang may mean I am fighting a lost clause.

little bolero jacket thing is perfect and as grown up bridesmaid you are allowed to be slightly different?

failing that!

sit on the sofa
edge forwards til your feet are in front of you at 90 degrees and your arms behind you holding you on the sofa - press up and down lots of times!! that should get the backs!

Blondilocks · 29/04/2007 19:35

You can buy little dumbell weights in Argos that don't break the bank & if you google you can find exercises to do (although mine came with them).

Failing that a bolero jacket/shawl type thing would look nice.
