Evening ladies!

I have had some fantastic hair advise on here before which I followed and now need some more! I'm due at the hairdressers Tuesday. I usually have a collar length cut, fairly straight front (not too feathered) and no layers but thinning scissors as my hairs thick. I started balayage and loved it but have since discovered I've been covering grey hairs after all these years! Confused I'm bridesmaid in May so need to look my best! What shall I do? I like the collar length cut but need ideas for colour and style. Ps I'm 37!

Done it from my laptop! Hair could probably do with a brush and wash first!!

Not too keen on the blue foundation. . Are you likely to clash with the bride?

ObiJuanKenobi · 25/01/2018 18:17

Have you ever had dark hair? I recently went from very long balayage dirty blondeish hair to chest length chocolate brown and much prefer having one block colour (I thought I'd hate it) I find I have to do a lot less to it for it to look good now.

I like the colour and style! Prob because it's the same as mine (though mine a bit longer) it looks nice with some beachy waves put in for special occasions. I went darker once and just looked ill. My natural colour is dark blonde and mousey - about a level 7.

EggsonHeads · 25/01/2018 18:23

I wouldn't use the thinning scissors, it looks a bit sparse. An even edge also looks a bit smarter. Short hair can look abutscruffy if it isn't kept neat. I like the colour tgatvit is in the picture.

littlem133 · 25/01/2018 18:46

I'm quite pale with blue eyes. I worry if I go too dark I'd look ill too. I've always been a lot blonder. The roots are my natural colour so dark blonde. What do I do about my grey hairs though! How about forgetting the balayage and having a few blonde highlights to blend in with the greys?

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 25/01/2018 18:52

Yes I was thinking of adding some highlights to mine, but still with root shadow... I've just noticed greys for the first time round my temples, but I don't think anyone else can see them.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 25/01/2018 18:55

This is my current balayage. Lighting makes my roots look darker than they are! I'd like it ashier but toners wash out within a week and it's not light enough for silver shampoos. It looks ace with a wave but I'm too lazy to do that often.

Your hairs so pretty dr. What would you do about greys though?

Fosterdog123 · 25/01/2018 19:47

That just looks like highlights rather than balayage.

Fosterdog123 · 25/01/2018 19:51

Google Catherine boden colour blend for some inspiration.

allinclusive · 25/01/2018 20:06

I think the easiest way to deal with greys is to go lighter and slightly more bluer blonde than a yellow one, especially if suits your complexion.

I quite like the angled cuts that are knocking about as well to update your cut.

@Fosterdog123 it is balayage - hand painted and blended. It is also lighter at ends than roots but that's what is referred to as ombre, which I'm trying to move away from. Highlights are normally done with a comb tail and foils and are generally from the root (easier to get a root shadow with balayage). People get balayage and ombre mixed up and think the forner automatically means the latter!
I don't do anything about my greys currently as they're not terribly noticeable yet.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 25/01/2018 20:54

Ah this is a better definition "With traditional foils, the highlights are uniform and defined. Balayage, taken from the French word meaning “to sweep”, is a freehand technique in which swatches of hair are sectioned and hand painted against a backing board with a lightening agent."
Balayage is similar to highlights but a bit mote natural/sunkissed looking as not quite as uniform. You can't see on the photo but I have more blonde at the front.

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 25/01/2018 20:55

I like the middle one @littlem133

littlem133 · 25/01/2018 22:52

I like the middle one too. How would you describe the fringe bit? Is the other side a straight cut?

MiaD13 · 26/01/2018 05:28

Would you consider more of an ashy / silver tone ?
Grey is really in just now ! I think if you're used to being lighter cooling down the tones in your hair might be nice ?
Similar to this maybe ?

Yes, you're right. I'd rather silver blonde than yellow blonde

How about cut like this recent pic of kylie and go more ashy for colour?
